Griffo is one of the most booked piano and ukulele players in Chicago, who's been gigging since 2005.
Griffo works to craft the best musical experience for any event, whether it's performing in secret Chicago speakeasies, wowing audiences in historic venues like the Palmer House or Drake Hotel, or playing in your home. As a composer, he performs his original comedy music both locally & internationally.
Griffo can play almost any song you might request & can even improvise original songs for your event. He’s available as a soloist on piano or ukulele, as a duo with a cellist, or bassist, & can add in vocals to any performance and DJ's private events as well.

We had the pleasure of having Matt perform at our backyard luau, and WOW what an incredible experience! For two full hours, he played beautiful, vibrant ukulele music that truly brought the spirit of the islands to life. Not only is Matt a phenomenal musician, but also a warm and engaging performer.
He didn’t just stay in one spot, he walked around the party, interacted with our guests, took requests, and added a personal touch to every song. Everyone felt connected and entertained, and so many of our guests commented on how memorable the music was. Matt made our luau unforgettable!

What to expect
PRIVATE EVENT PIANIST/SINGER: At private events you'd hear me playing instrumental versions of contemporary songs from The Beatles and Van Morrison to Rihanna and Taylor Swift depending on what the client wants to hear. I can also sing contemporary songs like John Legend, Frank Sinatra, Mumford and Sons and Rufus Wainwright. Each event is different and I cater the set list to each event.
COMEDY MUSIC ACT: Matt Griffo's shows make you think, feel, and most of all, laugh! Adept at a broad range of musical genres, Griffo seamlessly blends indie rock, classical, and folk song styles. If the Flight of the Conchords and Ben Folds had a baby, Matt Griffo's show would be that.
An electric performer with excellent audience interaction, Griffo's surprise twists turn serious issues into satirical romps of joy. Whether he’s playing solo on piano or with his band (drums, cello and trumpet) the show is captivating and hilarious.
About
For most gigs, Griffo is playing as a piano player and not doing music comedy. Most events, he's playing contemporary cover songs on piano or ukulele for high end private events whether solo, with a duo, or group. He also DJ's in and outside of Chicago for private events like weddings and corporate.
Even though for many private events Griffo is playing contemporary cover songs, Griffo is also a unique musician & comedian who plays funny original songs on piano and ukulele at speakeasies, cabarets, and festivals, world-wide for his personal music, Griffo is combining music with comedic lyrics.
He's been featured on FunnyorDie and Buzzfeed. His performances are “both toe-tapping and rib-tickling” (Chicago Sun Times). You can check out his music online.
