Violinist Matthew Bennett is a founding member of the Fountain City String Quartet which performs throughout the region, with the goal of broadening the audience base for classical music. Matthew is also a member of the Monarch String Ensemble, which performs regionally and has a residency at Finley Farms in Ozark, MO. Matthew has been a member of Symphony and Opera orchestras in the US, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Matthew has been a soloist with Midwest Chamber Ensemble, Medical Arts Symphony KC, Westwood Ensemble, and the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. As a champion of new music, Matthew has premiered works for violin by the L.A. composer, Joshua Peterson and
Grammy-winning composer, Michael Colina in New York City. He has premiered new chamber works with New Ear Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and composer Brad Cox with Owen/Cox Dance Group. As a chamber musician, Matthew has collaborated with Kansas City Chorale, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Kansas City Baroque Consortium, and Spire Chamber Ensemble. Performing recitals brought Matthew to the stages of Morse Concert Hall at The Juilliard School, Mannes School of Music | The New School, Art in the Loop, The Lied Center of Kansas, Ruel Joyce Recital Series, and local concert series. Matthew is the Concertmaster for the local and touring musicals at Starlight Theater, Music Hall Kansas City, and the Kauffman Center as well as the violinist at New Theater Restaurant.
