April 8, 2025We hired Matia to work our 3-year-old daughter's birthday party, which was "garden fairy" themed. Matia made a custom outfit for the occasion - a beautiful hoop skirt with all kinds of flowers cascading down from it - and came in a full face of elfish makeup (including prosthetic elf ears). She played with all the kids, took pictures, blew bubbles, and her presence just generally added an extra dose of magic to the occasion. She kept her cool for several hours in over 90 degree heat, dancing around the backyard with the kids. She's a born performer and was SO good with all the kids (and their grown-ups), which at our party ranged from baby to about 5 years old. We would totally hire her again - I feel like she's the kind of person/performer who can work with your theme OR help develop an idea and bring something special/extra to whatever you are planning.

Price range: $400 and up
You can expect a punctual professional and put-together performer ready and eager to bring magic and spark to your event! Expect to receive a contract and a variety of questions about your needs and details about the event.
Choose between two entertainment style options:
Performance: A continuous performance tailored to your needs. This usually excels with multiple performers available at an additional cost.
Ambient/ Roaming performance: Spread out over 30 mins-2 hours, best if you are looking for a single performer. 5-15 minuet set times with breaks in between. Fire performances can take place on a stage or designated performance area. Non fire props can take place on a stage, designated performance area, or dancing through the crowd.
Matia Ignites is a multidisciplinary artist based out of Minneapolis, MN. Working through a variety of mediums, she curates visual experiences through film and movement that showcase a curated aesthetic while exploring the connection of nature, the divine, and the body. Enticed by the transformative powers of the fire element, Matia discovered fire dance in 2014 and has been performing professionally since 2017. She received her BFA in dance from Cornish College of the Arts in 2018 where she studied under Wade Madson, Pat Hon, Michele Miller, and others. She was hired as lead performer for Cantina House Music residency, has appeared in multiple music videos and local variety shows such as the B.O.N.K show and Queer Circus, and had the pleasure of dancing for Dolls of the Wild, a Minneapolis-based indie dance company. Everything in the universe is vibration or movement in other words. When we dance, we are raising our vibration and connecting to the ever-evolving universe to embrace radical growth in both ourselves and our communities.
FIRE PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
There must be:
- A performance area
- designated fuel station
- designated spin-off area
- A fire safety person brought by the performer. Cost of fire safety is included in the quote.
The Fuel Station and Spin-off area are required to be 10-15 feet from the stage/performance area and must be free from pedestrian traffic. Only the performer(s) and fire safety are allowed in this area.
The performer comes equipped with: cones, metal dip cans, fire blanket and fire props.
Certain venues or outdoor areas may require direct permission from the venue/land owner or the fire marshal.
