Marta Brown Circus Artist

The Cyr wheel is a large metal wheel 5ft 6in in diameter. Marta dances with and inside of the wheel, rolling it, and spinning it to make unique shapes and movements. With over 5 years experience you can expect from Marta a professional performance with high level technical skills. Marta offers a 5min fully choreographed act to music, jammed packed with dance and tricks meant for a focused audience to make a big impact in a short amount of time. She can also provide a longer, more improvised set, for ambient entertainment as guests mingle and wander.

Marta Brown is a contemporary circus artist specializing in hand to hand, banquine, and Cyr wheel. A versatile performer, it’s not uncommon to see her transform from luscious mover, to fierce flyer, to mischievous imp all in one show. Marta forms a human connection with the audience in every performance, inviting them to become a part of the story she’s telling. With a strong technical background in dance and competitive gymnastics, Marta easily transitioned to the circus in 2008 supported by the Seattle circus community. Since then, she’s performed various acrobatic feats with companies such as Circus Bella, Acrobatic Conundrum, and at the Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival. Beyond her specialties, she has also been spotted performing teeterboard, Russian bar, juggling, trampoline, and even an aerial act or two. In 2017, she toured with Cirque Mechanic’s show “Pedal Punk,” adding unicycle flyer to her list of professional skills. When not spinning in circles or flying through the air, Marta can be found sitting in the sun eating ice cream.

Because the Cyr wheel is a large, heavy, metal object it does require adequate space. For the safety of everyone involved the "stage" must be at least 15'x15' completely clear of any obstructions such as speakers, podiums, wires or lights. The stage surface must be smooth and level. Polished concrete and partitioned dance floors are great.
Before the event, I will want to do a site visit to make sure a Cyr performance is feasible.
On the day of the event I will need time and space out of view from guests to change into costume, warm up, and assemble my wheel. If I was not able to test the surface of the stage during a site visit then I will want 10 minutes to practice on the surface before the guests arrive/enter.
