You can expect professionalism from start to finish. Mark will work with you as the client to discuss all details of your special event, including logistics, arrival time, band setup, and any special requests, to help you feel comfortable and confident.
When the band arrives, typically 30-60 minutes before the event, it will set up according to what you as the client agreed upon with Mark. The band will typically perform sets of 45-60 minutes with short breaks in between.
The Mark Tonelli Group will perform engaging, lively jazz music. The members of the band are seasoned professionals who will perform sensitively to match the ambiance of the event-- not too loud so people can talk and mingle, but just the right volume to add that touch of class to the event. But the band can also "turn it up" if you want something more robust. Mark will work with you to achieve exactly the type of mood you have in mind, and will adjust on the fly as needed.
The Mark Tonelli Group adds the perfect musical touch to your special event. The group performs music from The Great American Songbook, such as Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Rodgers & Hammerstein, Brazilian classics, classic rock songs reimagined for jazz, and holiday favorites. Mark hires top musicians to ensure a high-quality performance.
The Mark Tonelli group specializes in corporate events and has worked with a long list of corporations and non-profits from around the country, including AIG (Dallas), St. Louis Ballet, Peters Machine (Boston), and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital (Decatur, Illinois). As such, Mark knows how to work with a client to achieve exactly what they have in mind for the occasion for music.
Mark is an internationally-recognized performer with a 25-year career as a professional musician. Mark has performed in 26 of the 50 U.S. states (and counting!) and has toured every region of the country, performing in major cities such as New York, Dallas, Chicago, Denver, and Washington D.C. He has also performed in Ukraine, Holland, and Canada, and has toured and performed extensively in Brazil.
The Mark Tonelli Group will typically require a couple of outlets, a power strip, an extension cord, and a few folding chairs. The group will provide everything else.

Set lists vary and are developed in consultation with the client. They can include the following:
-Swing songs from The Great American Songbook, such as George Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Cole Porter
-Music from musical theater and film, such as from The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, and Breakfast at Tiffany's
-Music from Brazil, such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sergio Mendes, and Milton Nascimento
-Classic rock songs reimagined for jazz, such as David Bowie, Queen, or Tom Petty
-Specialty music requested by the client played in a jazz style, such as Happy Birthday, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and holiday music
A typical standard set list could look like this:

3. The Girl From Ipanema (Antonio Carlos Jobim, Brazilian style jazz)

5. Body and Soul (Johnny Green/Ben Webster, jazz ballad)
6. Space Oddity (David Bowie, classic rock song played in a contemporary jazz style)
7. Come Rain or Come Shine (Harold Arlen, swing style jazz)
8. Someday My Prince Will Come (Frank Churchill, from Disney's "Snow White," played as jazz waltz)
9. Oleo (Miles Davis, lively swing jazz)
The Mark Tonelli Group draws inspiration from the great jazz masters like Miles Davis and Duke Ellington, contemporary popular artists like David Bowie and Queen, and artists from the Brazilian Popular Music scene like Antonio Carlos Jobim and Sergio Mendes.
