July 6, 2021Perfect touch for large Fourth of July gathering
We had 40 people over to celebrate together and Mark added so much to the atmosphere. Our family and friends all complimented him! His jazzy treatment of so many genres of music entertained everyone. Though he was, for the most part, background music, almost everyone took time to listen to him perform. If you are having people over and want to offer the special treat of live guitar music, we highly recommend Mark.

Sam - your party was a joy to play. Beautiful home, magnificent view, and wonderful people. While I was indeed background music for most of the party, I thought the end was the best, when everyone joined together for "Rocky Top." Good times. Thank you for having me.

October 21, 2020Great for weddings!
Mark was great to work with. He was very respectful and responsive to my requests. He kindly adjusted to our new wedding date when we had to reschedule (Covid), and he made sure that he had everything right. Mark provided the ceremony and cocktail hour music; his playing was perfect for these components of our event as it heightened the ambiance without it being too much. As a busy bride, I was unable to listen to him as much as I would have liked, but I can attest my guests loved him. Quoted, in reference to his classic rock songs, "He was excellent. He played like the pro's did as a soloist... Especially Eric Clapton, who is not an easy artist to copy." Definitely recommend.

Sarah - Thank you very much for the kind words! I was happy to work with your schedule, and of course COVID-19 was something none of us could have foreseen as a factor. It was a beautiful setting and ceremony, and I was honored to be a part of it. Best wishes to you going forward.

This was a most unique gig that I really enjoyed doing- driving an hour to play ONE song while you proposed to Stephanie. A first for me, but a great idea... Very glad that you enjoyed it.

What to expect
During a performance, my main focus is to provide the best interpretation of the music as possible. Particularly at weddings and other private party-type events, I'm not looking to draw attention to myself, but simply to enhance the occasion - in the background.
My goal at all times is to satisfy the customer, and to be professional in appearance and demeanor. I am very laid-back - no video of me is going to go viral on YouTube... If you're looking for someone flamboyant, with strong visual appeal and charisma- seek elsewhere.
If your primary requirement is a guitarist that will give you professional and well above average musicianship, look no further.
Additional booking notes
Unless specifically requested otherwise, I am an ELECTRIC guitarist. Even my Fender classical guitar can be played through an amplifier. I also use a looping device - which allows me to play multiple parts live. My vintage (1980) Roland Jazz Chorus amp is a big part of my sound.
All I require for all of this is an electrical outlet. OR- as happens in certain locations such as a beach wedding, knowing beforehand that I will need to rent a portable battery-powered system.

Influences and inspiration
I have been playing professionally since the mid-1970s when I was a teenager. All the classic rock bands: Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, etc. etc.. are huge influences. But I was playing in venues back then that wanted Top 40, beach music, disco, country.. so I learned it all.
As I've matured, through the 80s & 90s and beyond, it's been the same. Lots of great music in all kinds of styles. The Police/Sting, R.E.M., and U2 are later bands that I really admire.
For the past few years I've leaned toward jazz.. I always admired it, but am now confident enough to play in this genre. Some of my favorites there would be Pat Metheny & Jeff Beck.
Setup requirements
I provide all necessary equipment.
