Mark Covey
Overview
I have been providing music for weddings, private parties, and all kinds of special events for years. I specialize in clean, elegant sounding classical guitar music that is heavily influenced by the style instilled by Andres Segovia. I began playing at private events when I was 16 years old. I reside in San Antonio where I teach lessons and provide music for parties. If it is classical guitar music you want, I play Bach to Rodrigo.

About
I was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1987 and moved to Texas when I was very young. My family ended up in San Antonio by the time I was 10 years old, which is also when I began playing guitar. At first, I learned as much Metallica, Led Zeppelin, and Ozzy Osborne as I could get my hands on; but things changed one day a few years into my guitar playing when I listened to my cousin play several classical pieces on a beautiful nylon string guitar. I remember thinking: “That’s how I want to play!” It was at that point, at 14 years of age, that I began formal classical guitar studies with David Underwood in San Antonio. After studying with him for about four years, I continued my classical guitar studies at Pepperdine University, where I completed my B.A. in classical guitar/vocal performance. During my years at Pepperdine, I was fortunate to be a private student of Christopher Parkening, a classical guitarist I have admired since I was very young. I am now located in Goleta where I am currently teaching lessons and pursuing a graduate degree in music at UCSB.
