When you book Mariposa Designs Face Painting, you can expect a fun and easygoing experience! We focus on creating vibrant, stylized designs that kids and adults enjoy. Here’s how it works:
The Arrival & Setup- We arrive early to ensure we’re ready to start right on time. We’ll bring all our supplies, including high-quality face paints, glitter, brushes, sponges, high chair, stand alone kit (not need for a table!), face paint banner, tent, distilled water, and anything else we may need to make your event successful!

Design Selection- We offer a variety of designs, from simple and cute to more detailed character-inspired looks. We carry a binder where clients can pick from our “mastered” designs. We have designs for every holiday and themed parties! If booking for a festival and looking for quick designs, we have a list of “line busters” to ensure we get as many faces as possible while still providing those vibrant designs.

Painting Process- We work quickly but carefully, keeping the experience fun and comfortable—especially for little ones. We’re friendly but tend to focus while painting to make sure each design turns out great. We have three water containers that contain clean water, dipping water, and soapy water. We clean the brushes in between each person to keep hygienic practices as clean as possible. No sponges are ever reused on clients.

Kid-Friendly & Professional- With our experience in early childhood education and children with special needs, we’re patient and great with kids. We’re also professional and accommodating with adults and event coordinators.

Rates & Timing: We charge $100/hr for small private events and $125–$150/hr for large corporate events (varies but we always quote an individualized price before booking). We’ll let you know ahead of time how many faces we can realistically paint within your booking. On average we can paint 10-15 kids in one hour for private events, this is because we are able to take our time with the designs. For fast paced events, we have been able to do 30 (with our record being 95 people in two hours!). We have no minimum booking time but do recommend at least 2 hours.

We’re two sisters who love bringing a splash of color and creativity to any event! With three years of experience, we’ve worked at everything from fast-paced festivals to private parties, school events, and community gatherings. Our style is fun and stylized—one of us specializes in detailed character designs, while the other loves playful swirls and bold line work.

While we are relatively new to this field, we take pride in creating fun, vibrant designs that kids and adults enjoy. Our “day time” professions as a teacher and nurse have prepared us to provide a patient, friendly, and understanding of working with little ones. We always arrive early to set up and do our best to accommodate your event’s needs, we consider ourselves very flexible!

Whether it’s a birthday party, a school function, or a festival, we’re here to add a little extra magic—one brush stroke at a time!

For private events, we only require a small space to work but ask that if it is outdoors that there be some shade.

If booking for a community event, we do have our own tent, banners to indicate face painting availability, and if doing a pay-per-face event, our own pricing board. If you pay for the event in advance to allow for free face painting at the event, we do still put out a tip option :) If the event is more than 3 hours, we will require a break to change out water and replenish our kit (typically 2-3 minutes).

Our paint time on average is 5 minutes per face, 1-3 minutes for quick designs and closer to 7-8 minutes for full face or intricate designs. Please plan accordingly based on expected attendance.

All of our paints are professional, FDA approved, hypoallergenic, and come off with soap and water. The paint brands we opt to buy are the following: Fusion, Diamond FX, Superstar, KRAZEFX, and TAG.

Each event includes the price of new sponges as we do not like to reuse these on clients.

Direct deposits may be required depending on the event. We do ask that payment is ready by the date of the event, before we begin just so that we don’t bother you while the event is coming to a close. We accept venmo, cashapp, paypall, cash, or checks. If booking through a company that have a registrars office that might delay payment, just let us know! :) We are happy to make exceptions for such cases. You may choose to pay before the event.

Invoices are not automatically given, if you need one we will happily provide one!

In case of a cancellation, if provided with payment before the event, you will be refunded the full amount (we get it, life happens!) but we ask to let us know as soon as possible in order to fill our schedule. If we cancel, we will let you know as soon as we can. We will only cancel if there we are sick or extenuating circumstances.
