I had my wedding at Adler Planetarium in Chicago and wanted to have an excellent music experience to top off the wedding. Mario is a wonderful musician. Being a classical pianist, music was one of the most important elements in my wedding. I met Mario on a Facebook music group and loved his guitar playing - both the jazz playing and more gentle soft solo playing. He has a beautiful instrument with a full and rich sound. We had Mario on solo guitar for the ceremony and the arrangements he made of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and well-known Chinese piece “Beautiful Myth” by Sun Nan and Han Hong were perfect for the ceremony. Honestly, I am convinced that guitar is the perfect instrument for an intimate and sweet ceremony. His playing was beautiful. He also put together a jazz trio for dinner - guitar, keyboard, and bass. Highly skilled musicians who played great together! I could have listened all night.
Mario was very communicative throughout the planning process and made sure to ask all pertinent questions during the contract review. One thing to make sure to communicate with any musician is the location for each part of the evening - in our case: ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. We had three different performance spaces for our wedding and needed to clearly communicate that from the beginning

Hello, From day one of talking to Mario, he was an unbelievable communicator, very professional and courteous. Arrived an hour early to the event, and he and his partner played their hearts out. I was VERY happy with their work. The duet sounded like a 5 piece band. I will certainly hire again!

I love love love the Mario Dueñas Trio! I hired the band for my Holiday Party and they were incredible at every step of the process.
Mario called a few days before the event to discuss formalities like parking, layout, dress code, etc. He was kind, professional, and extremely accommodating.
The day of my event, the band arrived early to set up. Their display was efficient and pretty. The band played for 2 hours and took a few breaks (which was ideal because it gave my guests an opportunity to mingle). The musicians chatted with my guests, which I really appreciated, and were extremely friendly. The band played a mix of holiday music and jazz standards. They even took a song request!
So, if you are looking for a wonderful jazz band for your event- I highly recommend Mario Dueñas Trio! I will definitely be rebooking for future functions.

Mario’s Jazz Trio was wonderful at our annual holiday party. They have provided the music for us for years, and they always do an excellent job. This year we hosted about 175 guests, and everyone seemed to enjoy the music.

About
Mario Dueñas, born from an Italian family in Guayaquil, Ecuador on April 23, 1985, was introduced to music at the age of 5, developing a special interest in harmony, and soon began a self-teaching process through record transcription and bibliographic studies.
Years later, established a variety of ensembles to further explore both the languages of composition as well as performance. After experiencing the music of Bill Evans and John Coltrane along with many other master improvisers, decided to continue a deeper study into the nature of improvisation.
In 2008, traveled to the United States. By 2014, moved from Texas to Illinois, where he currently resides with his wife and two children. Since 2014, the continuation of this musical journey, led to the Mario Dueñas Solo, Duet and Trio acts, performing regularly all around the Chicago, Wisconsin and Indiana areas. In 2024, released “Fruits of the Spirit”, a solo guitar meditation featuring acoustic textures with motivic explorations inspired by jazz aesthetics and spiritual writings.
