Marina Gittins is the recipient of a Bachelor of Music degree cum laude in Violin Performance from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. She performs professionally as a classical violinist, fiddler, and soundscape artist. Extensive improvisational training led to an insatiable curiosity in the music encapsulated within every encountered soundscape. Deep listening and soundscape engagement, within the live-performance setting, challenges the aural ability to perceive any distinction between that which is purely sound and that which is regarded canonical music. Gittins engages with the inspiration of music itself whilst opening her audiences to a magnetic auricular odyssey.

Marina Gittins is a classically trained violinist, improviser, private instructor, acoustic ecologist, and soundscape collaborative artist. Serving as a catapulting catalyst, private vocal instruction directed Gittins towards private violin instruction. The cessation of melodies hummed, sang, or played never came whilst moving cross country, over the ocean, and to consequently aurally removed regions of the world.
A lifelong heady enthusiasm to be a violinist initially stirred within Gittins when a childhood friend prohibited others from touching her own violin. Gittins realized the necessity for her own violin to have freedom to sing differently through their strings. By 1999, Gittins began private instruction on the Olympic Peninsula with violinist Cliff Self in the arts centered community of Port Townsend, Washington. In 2005, Gittins recognized violin and music as her primary purpose in life and commenced her studies with violinist Ronald Patterson in Seattle, Washington. Gittins continued her violin studies with Dr. Wen Lei-Gu in Appleton, Wisconsin by 2009.
Pianist, conductor, and composer Dr. Martin Beatus Meier benevolently encouraged and mentored Gittins beginning in 2010 leading to competitive playing and performing in the greater Seattle area. Gittins embarked on the continuance of her musical education under Dr. Wen Lei-Gu by 2011 at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Ms. Gittins is the recipient of a Bachelor of Music degree cum laude in Violin Performance from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music and continues to perform and teach as a violinist and soundscape artist.
