Johnny Two Hats is hands-down one of the best entertainers we’ve ever hired! He is incredibly friendly, professional, and has a unique ability to adapt his show to fit our camp’s weekly themes perfectly. Whether he’s performing for our youngest campers or our oldest, he keeps everyone captivated. We love him so much that we continue to book him for events all year long. Highly recommended!

What to expect
When you book Two Hats Magic, here is what you can expect from start to finish.
Before the Event
Every booking starts with a conversation. John will reach out to understand your event — the audience, the setting, the tone you're going for, and any specific requests or themes. The more you share, the more tailored the experience. For most events two weeks to a month of lead time is plenty. Weddings and large scale events benefit from more time, and out of area bookings should plan for at least six months given John's schedule.
Arrival and Setup
John arrives early, dressed and ready. There is no complicated stage setup or technical requirements for strolling and close-up performances. For kids character shows he arrives in full costume — Ravenclaw robes for the wizard show, Jedi attire for the Star Wars show — and is ready to go when your guests are.
The Performance
Your guests won't just watch the magic. They'll be part of it. Coins appear and vanish from closed fists. Cards restore themselves in spectators' hands. Solid objects pass through each other. A Rubik's cube solves itself behind someone's back. For kids shows, children cast real spells and experience the effects firsthand.
For strolling events John works the room naturally, moving group to group without disrupting the flow of your event.
Communication
John is collaborative, responsive, and straightforward. If he's not the right fit for your event he'll tell you honestly — and if he can recommend someone who is, he will.
About
John Clougherty has been performing magic for 25 years and professionally for 12. He is a member of the Academy of Magical Arts, home of the world-renowned Magic Castle in Hollywood — but what sets him apart isn't the credential, it's the approach.
Most magic shows ask you to watch. John's shows ask you to participate. Coins appear and vanish from your closed fist. Cards restore themselves in your hands. Solid objects pass through each other between your fingers. A Rubik's cube solves itself behind your back. The magic doesn't happen in front of you — it happens through you.
John doesn't do off-the-shelf shows. He listens first, then builds something around your event, your audience, and the moment you're trying to create. Every performance starts with a conversation. Tell John what you're envisioning and he'll make it happen.
For kids shows, John performs as Professor Stone, a fully costumed wizard themed experience where children cast real spells and experience the magic firsthand. He also performs as Obi John Kenobi for Star Wars themed events, and offers a range of other character and themed shows including classic magic, neon, and more.
For corporate events, John specializes in close-up strolling magic — working the room table to table during cocktail hours and dinners, leaving guests with something to talk about long after the event ends. He has performed for PepsiCo/Frito Lay events and organizations across Southern California.
John is based in the Inland Empire and performs throughout Southern California. He is available for kids birthday parties, school shows, corporate events, private parties, and weddings.
Additional booking notes
A sound system is helpful if available for kids shows, though John can provide his own speaker if needed. For larger rooms and audiences a hands-free microphone is appreciated — lapel or over the ear, no wires. For kids shows, enough space for children to easily come up, participate, and return to their seats makes for the smoothest experience.
