Hi, I’m Michael Jones, the photographer behind M4J Photography.
Photography, for me, has always been about more than just taking pictures. It’s about preserving the emotions, the energy, and the essence of a moment.

I got my start at 15 through the world of pinhole photography, a slow and thoughtful process that shaped the way I see light and timing. That early experience gave me a real respect for the craft. Even though I now work digitally, that same intentionality still guides how I shoot today.

My work covers a range of moments. From engagement shoots and surprise proposals to family portraits, milestone celebrations, and corporate events. Whether it’s a couple sharing a private laugh or a family gathered to celebrate something meaningful, I aim to capture images that feel genuine and alive.

What I specialize in is candid photography. The in-between moments often say the most. I want the people I photograph to feel like themselves, not like they’re posing. That trust and comfort are what allow the most powerful images to come through.

I've had the honor of photographing everything from weddings and dance performances to school functions and charity events. Some of my past work includes coverage of the Pittsburgh Marathon, USPS stamp unveilings, and heart research fundraisers. Regardless of the event, I bring the same attention and care to every frame.

While I’m proud to offer a wide variety of photography services, I focus strictly on handheld photography. I do not provide photobooths, 360 booths, videography, drone work, or other production services outside of still imagery.

M4J Photography does not require any special lighting, staging, or sound setup. I work with natural light when available and bring professional equipment including on-camera flash and external lighting when necessary. I am fully mobile and able to adapt to both indoor and outdoor environments.

I shoot using a full-frame DSLR camera with high-resolution lenses to ensure image clarity and detail. I also carry backup equipment to avoid any interruptions during your event.

All photos are professionally edited and delivered through a private online gallery. Clients will receive instructions on how to access, download, and select their favorite images.

I do not provide photobooths, 360 booths, drone coverage, or videography. My focus is solely on handheld photography and capturing authentic moments as they happen.
