What to expect
With Love Town, you get Soulful 3 part vocals. Our vocalists are top notch and include a classically trained opera singer. They will channel the Supremes, and conjur memories of the do-wop 60's to the vibrant dance hits of the disco era!
Song selection includes hits that will fill the dance floor. Our violinist has been known to join the dancers on the floor at times!
Top notch musicianship with multi instrumentalists covering the sounds of the Motown. 2 keyboards, a guitar, a full percussion set, congo drums, tambourine, violin and bass. The only way to do the music justice is to play all of the parts, which is why our band is a tad larger than most.
This is not your typical cover band! We will play the songs that other bands are afraid to play. (We may be the only band that does NOT play "Can't Stop Believin'" these days) We embrace the complex rhythms, chords and harmonies that it takes to play this style of music. We play songs that everybody knows but very few bands play live.
About
Love Town began as an idea in the head of our Violinist and Band Manager, Bill Thoms in April of 2024. The idea behing Love Town is to bring back the sounds of early 60's Motown all the way through the 1970's Disco era. Soul music of this era was music made for everyone and brought joy, inclusiveness, dancing and social awareness in a turbulent yet very rich musical time in our nation's history. The story of Motown is the story of American music and few bands tend to play it.
The band is made up of 8 high caliber musicians. At long last, the band has settled on its members and is ready to take Omaha and the surrounding region by storm!
Members include:
Nicole Thoms (also a performer with Opera Omaha) Lead Vocals
