What to expect

Professional, courteous, talented musicians who love what they do and do it well: sharing the best of 60s-70s funk soul and jazz and adding an infectiously positive vibe to your event. .

About

Tired of playing overplayed, rerun, and rehashed cover tunes, guitarist Sam McIlvain recruited a bevy of talented musicians in the spring of 2015 (players he had met and played with in Philly over the years), enticing them with the idea of creating a band that celebrated the funk, soul, jazz bands of the 60s and 70s (think The Meters, Billy Cobham, John Scofield, Al Green, Sly Stone, the Spinners, et al). The results have been rewarding both for the band and their appreciative audiences. Playing in clubs, bars, and private parties, Loose and Alright has shared their love of the music with joyous affection and tight musicianship, pleasing crowds new and old to the magical era of the B-3 Hammond, biting single note guitar playing, locked in bass and drums, soulful singing, and rip-roaring horns. Come check them out! They will put funk in your trunk and soul in your heart.
