Lela Christine is a mother, brand creator, social media maven, fashion designer, and lover of technology. Introduced to the world of fashion design and art by her grandparents, she first began designing with a Singer sewing machine at the age of 8.
Expected to pursue the medical field, her creative abilities and artistic talents led her to relentlessly follow opportunities in art and fashion industries. Attending the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles California, Lela completed numerous design courses at the nation’s top-rated art and design college and crafted elaborate fashion and manufacturing presentations. Upon graduation, she entered the fashion industry with a fashion design degree as a powerhouse force, quickly becoming well-known for her raw talents and artistic abilities across the fashion business sector.
In a career spanning more than a decade, Lela created top-line fashion collections featured in department stores including Bullocks and Robinson/May, and numerous fashion catalogs across the United States. Simultaneously exploring freelance fashion design and manufacturing, she created a high-profile collection for the Galaxy soccer team in the late 1990s. During the early 2000s, Lela began to work with Derek Khan, a celebrity stylist, when she joined Khan’s creative style team and designed album cover pantsuits and furniture ensembles for music artists like Queen Pen. Entering the world of celebrity design, her passion and expertise shined bright when she was hired to create the 1998 Super Bowl style for Queen Latifah. Thriving in this space for over a decade, Lela eventually transitioned into the entertainment sector and worked with KCET production teams before beginning a career at 20th Century Fox Studios. Quickly transitioning into the field of marketing, promotions, and digital technology.
Continuing to work in the freelance fashion business, Lela created brands for local manufacturers within the Los Angeles community while diving deeper into the technology field and public relations sectors. Aligning book authors with sponsorship deals, Lela also supported campaign initiatives with local Assemblyman Mervyn Dymally, LA Unified School Board Member Marguerite LaMotte, and local Mayoral candidate Bernard Parks. Creating websites with iWeb, WordPress, and Joomla Content Management systems, Lela took courses with tech experts and learned to program websites, understand and apply SEO management skills, and execute complex social media marketing campaigns.
