Lauren Ulrich - Harpist

Lauren began playing harp at about 9 years old, on a little 24-string folk harp. While studying business at Oakland University, she moved on to pedal harp while taking private harp lessons at OU's music school. The most recent step in her music education was completing a music degree at Wayne State University in Harp Performance at the age of 32.

Lauren has played weddings and events since her late teens and loves bringing the joy of music to those around her. In addition to event music, she enjoys plays with local orchestras, giving lessons, and loves to garden and knit in her spare time.

Lauren requires a flat 6ftx6ft empty space to set up the harp, stool, music stand, amplification, etc. Generally, she arrives one hour before the event (venue allowing) to set up, tune the harp, and warm up to ensure the music goes off without a hitch!

For larger events, her harp is equipped with an internal pickup that she can hook to her own battery-powered Fishman LoudBox Mini amplifier, or a venues/DJs sound system via the harp's 1/4" jack.

Lauren will not perform outside in the event of precipitation, temperatures under 60°F, temperatures over 90°F, or other weather events that would damage her equipment. The harp must be located in the shade on a flat surface when performing outside. Of course, all reasonable accommodations will be made to make sure that the show goes on (even if that means moving indoors)!
