I had an appreciation night for some close friends, a cocktail / happy hour and we were fortunate enough to have Laura join us....and it was great. Laura played all our requests, kept the night following and with her awesome personality was a natural fit! We recently had a 60th birthday party for my wife and her twin at Kelly’s Saloon in Fort Edmonton park. We wanted background music for the event, and Laura did an awesome job. She played almost continuously for 4 hours. Thanks very much Laura you really made the event special.

About
Laura Johnson’s relationship with music began at home, where sound and song were part of everyday life. With a father who was a music teacher and lifelong musician, and a mother who deeply loved music, Laura learned early that music isn’t just something you hear—it’s something that brings people together.
Although she didn’t begin piano until age fifteen, music quickly became more than a skill; it became a way to connect. While studying at York University, Laura immersed herself in jazz and improvisation, developing a performance style rooted in listening, responsiveness, and emotional awareness. During this time, she taught, performed, and toured across Canada with a Toronto-based band, gaining experience creating meaningful musical moments for diverse audiences and settings.
Laura’s performances deepened further through her work in hospice care, where she played piano for individuals and families at the end of life. These quiet, intimate experiences shaped her approach to music—intentional, compassionate, and deeply human—and led her to pursue a Master of Music Therapy at Wilfrid Laurier University.
She later worked on the palliative care unit at Grey Nuns Community Hospital, supporting patients and families during life’s most tender moments. Today, Laura brings this same sensitivity and presence to her performances, offering music that is thoughtful, personal, and beautifully attuned to the moment—whether for private gatherings, celebrations, or moments of reflection.
