Improvisation is one of Lana’s specialties. Guests can even request music at the event, allowing Lana to create a performance spontaneously in the moment. Depending on the occasion, she can also interact with guests, invite participation, lead people into movement and dance, and help transform the energy of the celebration.

Lana Photon is an internationally recognized dancer, choreographer, producer, and creative consultant whose career began as a ballet dancer at the National Opera and Ballet Theater of Latvia in Riga, where she performed in productions including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, Chopiniana, and Spartacus.

Her passion for dance began in early childhood, including her first 45-minute solo improvisational performance on a public stage at the age of five. After being accepted into the Latvian National Dance Academy, she distinguished herself early and was cast in an adult ballet role at thirteen.

Upon her arrival in the United States, Lana’s fascination with American multiculturalism and exposure to a multiplicity of dance styles opened new avenues for creativity and helped her discover a new choreographic vision. Lana took every opportunity to learn from dance traditions and cultural aesthetics from around the world, enriching her dance technique and choreographic language. As a result, Lana developed her own distinctive dance style and earned a reputation as an “eclectic dancer and choreographer.”

In the United States, Lana continued her career as a performer and choreographer. She produced and performed her choreographic works throughout the East Coast of North America, many of which she donated in support of public causes, including city functions, festivals, fundraising events, corporate and private events, as well as the production of a charity concert benefiting the Red Cross in Canada. Her performances have been featured on television on several occasions in the U.S. and Latvia.

Lana was also mentored by and worked with distinguished artists and public figures including Nathalie Krassovska, Christopher Fleming, and Hollywood television personality Paul Ryan, with whom she co-produced television projects.

Lana’s performance and choreographic experience encompasses multiple dance and music styles, including classical ballet, neo-classical, modern, jazz, ballroom and Latin, Classical Indian and Bollywood dance, folklore and ethnic, social-historical, flamenco/Nuevo Flamenco, rock/pop-rock, techno, New Age, and fusion.

One of Lana’s defining talents is improvisation. She can spontaneously create a complete performance in response to an unexpected music request, interact naturally with guests, and transform the energy of an event through movement, character, humor, and audience participation.

Today, Lana Photon Productions offers professional dance performance, dance instruction, choreography, theatrical entertainment, audience engagement, and customized performance experiences for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, galas, fundraisers, festivals, private celebrations, and special occasions.
