What to expect

Audiences should expect to become part of the entertainment. I’m an engaging host that manages time and the energy of the room quite well.

As a speaker I tend to teach through parables. Life teaches us lessons through parallel experiences. Sometimes we just have to step back, view the whole picture and apply what we’ve already learned.

About

My name is Kyrah Ayers and I am statistically impossible. I’m an African-American, left handed, fraternal twin who attended private school, graduated college with a full track & field scholarship as a triple jumper.
I’m a husband, father, writer and long distance runner. I am the founder of Poetry By The Bay, Solano County’s largest and longest running spoken word event. I served as host for ten years before forming a committee to run it on my behalf. I’ve also had the honor to be a contract for higher event host for the City Of Oakland’s Parks and Recreation Department introducing talented artists and government officials.
In 2023, my life changed when I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and underwent twelve rounds of chemotherapy. Months before the diagnosis, I was training to become a Boston Qualified marathon runner. Thankfully I survived the journey by keeping an optimistic outlook on life while writing my second published book titled 12 Rounds. My story of perseverance and commitment to my goals despite challenging circumstances is who I’ve always been. I was reminded that the challenges don’t define us but how we respond to them does and I choose to write a story of perseverance, victory and hope.

Additional booking notes

I’m 6’2 and have a deep voice. SM58 is my favorite microphone if available. Adjustable vertical stands are preferred over boom mic stands but either work.
