Overview

I'm a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and entertainer. Are you looking for an act to entertain at an industry event? A house concert? A festival? A pub? I deliver an engaging set of songs tailored for your audience which includes original music on a vast array of subject matter, celtic and American folk music, and some acoustic covers of 70s and 80s favourites. Are you having a cocktail party? Getting married? Run a restaurant? I can also provide instrumental background music for your event with a mix of finger-style folk/jazz/classical guitar.

What to expect

I can provide either an interactive performance where I chat with the audience, tell stories about the songs, and allow people to make requests from a song list, or I can offer a more ambient style of performance where I set up and simply provide a pleasant background while folks have dinner/mingle/chat etc.

The music tends to be chill and relaxing overall, with a very positive vibe covering a variety of musical genres and eras.

I am very willing to discuss set-lists and expectations in advance to cater to your event.

About

Prolific prog-folk singer songwriter and guitar player Kyla Tilley is part journalist, part historian, and all around entertainer. Mixing folk, jazz, prog-rock, and baroque sensibilities with any words she likes, Kyla constructs songs inspired by everything from the sacred to the mundane with recurring themes of nature, finding joy in abstract places, the failings of humanity, and the importance of giving yourself some grace.

Her intimate live performances take audiences on a journey through time and emotion with set-lists crafted the same way she crafts her albums. Songs carefully chosen to present a narrative and keep the listener hanging on to every word. Within the narrative are vignettes. Kyla Tilley's vivid lyrics turn each song into a short film, projecting imagery into the listener's imagination (if they are not too busy watching Kyla's fingers perform gymnastic routines across the fretboard, or dazzled by whatever specimen she chose to wear from her fabulous high heel collection.)

Kyla Tilley has performed live throughout Canada and in the UK and has been steadily building personal relationships with a dedicated fanbase all over the world through live streaming and an active social media presence. Every weekday morning she greets her fans with 6 songs she's working on on TikTok. Then it's over to Twitch for the Monday Morning Sing Song, a three hour request show. On Wednesdays she presents ten songs on a theme on Youtube, and throughout the week she can be found on Twitch writing and recording before cluing up by hanging out on Friday afternoons playing video games with breaks for classical guitar practice.

Kyla Tilley lives in rural Newfoundland & Labrador and has released two full length albums and a handful of singles and EPs. Her acoustic cover of Subdivisions appears on the Rush tribute album 'Rush for Cover' put out by Twice as High and JIB Machine record labels. Kyla shines brightest in a House Concert/Listening Room atmosphere, but believes she would feel very at home with a Las Vegas residency and brings that energy to every stage.
