Kennings Jazz Trio

Kennings Jazz Trio is a jazz outfit hailing from South Jersey. The band plays traditional jazz standards, jazz covers of pop/rock songs, and more. Contemporary melodies with a new sense of groove and improvisation.

Firstnote was released by the band in August 2025. Firstnote is the first step into Kennings’ musical journey. It’s a twosong EP that is warm, approachable, and deeply musical. After individually playing jazz extensively in college and grad school, Billy, Bryan,and Ken all moved on to establish themselves in rock and pop bands. Members have been touring, releasing albums on national music labels, and/or regularly playing to packed crowds in cover bands.

On a trip to Paris in early 2025 Ken saw a jazz trio at Sunset/Sunside. The music moved him to reconnect with jazz which, in turn, led him to reach out to Billy and Bryan to start Kennings Jazz Trio. They’ve established a fresh yet timeless sound, blending the rich tradition of classic jazz with inventive arrangements of pop and rock favorites. Their sound is rooted in swing, bebop, and jazz
influences.
