What to expect

3 weeks or more prior to the event, we work with you to create a repertoire list that fits the ambience of the event and reflects your tastes. Often just 4-5 song titles is enough for us to know the mood you'd like to create. No need to pick every song. Special requests for songs not in our repertoire may require an additional arranging fee and need at least 3 weeks notice. If you don't see your special song, please ask. We are adding all the time--it might just not be listed yet.

For weddings, we help you pick all the ceremony music. On the day of the event, the musicians arrive 45 minutes prior to our start time to set up and get last minute information and cueing plans. For weddings, the music usually starts 30 minutes before the ceremony and includes the processionals, recessional and cocktail hour music. Sometimes it will include dinner music, too. Styles can change for each part of the day. Just let us know.

About

Katrina Wreede, leader of Katrina Wreede Musical Groups and the Skyline String Ensembles, is a violin/violist as well as a professional composer and arranger. She has performed on stage with Johnny Mathis, Smokey Robinson, Natalie Cole, John Denver, Page and Plant, Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman, the Moody Blues, Celtic Women, Brian Wilson, Donna Summer, Barry White, Pia Zadora, Tommy Tune and many others during her career. She has performed in front of royalty and presidents as well as political and business dignitaries and on three continents, 40 states and national TV, including Entertainment Tonight and Comcast Hometown. She has one gold record from her time as violist for the world-renowned Turtle Island String Quartet and was also a full-time professional symphony musician before specializing in playing music that just makes people feel happy.

She has collected a small group of equally exceptional string professionals with a passion for these styles and more to work with her in making every event truly memorable and unique. Each member of the Skyline String Ensembles has at least 10 years experience as a full-time, classically-trained professional musician specializing in pleasing diverse audiences with a broad range of styles.

Additional booking notes

We provide all our own equipment. You will need to provide armless chairs for each musician (folding chairs are fine) and make sure you have us set up in a location where the instruments are protected from sun, mist and the elements for any outside venue. Usually a large shade tree, large umbrella or shade near a building are great. We need about 4 square feet of flat space per musician--no hillsides. NOTE: The musicians reserve the right to move to a safe location or not play if conditions put their instruments or their safety at risk.

We all have conservatory-style classical training and have studied diverse styles for many years, including playing in groups specializing in contemporary pop and love songs, jazz, swing, classic rock, Latin jazz, indie, blues, classical, Celtic, contemporary Christian and Bollywood. We can also toss in some Hawaiian and specialty songs from many of the world's traditions.
