February 3, 2019Professional, Personable and Perfect for Us
We had the pleasure of working with Ka'imi for the 9th Annual Maui Open Studios Event - Opening Celebration and Preview Exhibition. Our event hosts 500+ guests throughout the night and 50 artists presenting their artwork. Ka'imi was very easy to work with and very professional and he provided the perfect repertoire of music for our guests. He has a beautiful voice and a wonderful stage presence. Many people even made a point of telling us how much they loved the musician. We look forward to working with him again. Thank you, Ka'imi, for a great job and for providing exactly what we needed for the event.

I booked Kaimi months in advance and paid up front. Prior to the event, which was yesterday, he wouldn't respond to my first email and phone messages until weeks later, and after that, did not respond to my other messages. After our event started, his father called to say Kaimi go injured "just now" on the Island of Maui (our even is on Oahu). What was he doing on another island, if he knew he had a gig. Even if he didn't get injured, how was he going to catch a flight back to Honolulu, drive to the other side of the island, set up his gear and perform in one hour and 45 minutes. He embarrassed me, and disappointed my guests. I'd give him zero stars, if there was such a selection.

My father and mother flew from Maui to Oahu because I was hospitalized for 2 days...on the island of Oahu. I arranged a sub to take my place which I was going to pay them more out of my pocket so the transfer would be smooth. The sub for me was already in route when I had my father contact Ron's Furniture Repair to tell him the situation. That his event was covered. He denied my most professional efforts as a gigging musician. I was in so much pain, but I waited to last minute to get that sub because I knew I wouldn't be able to perform to my fullest. I cancelled all my gigs that week. I also cancelled going to 2 huge concerts which tickets that were paid for. I lost a lot of money due to 'life challenges' that week. It got me down, but this review from Ron hurt more than losing money because I am a professional musician. I do this for a living and it's not a "hobby" for me. I have integrity and I strive to give the best I can give at each show/event. Check my other reviews. More good reviews to come....and I hope he sees them. Aloha brother Ron. Thanks for the opportunity to speak on my behalf and speak truths. So now you know, I am real and these reviews are real... Musician For Hire... Any island, US Mainland, and International hirings....I'll be there. Gig Salad is the best on-line booking service.

September 20, 2018Perfect!
Ka'imi was excellent. He performed a few songs on the beach for a surprise proposal and even learned one of the songs just for this event!

What to expect
I can be laid back or be the center of attention. It's what you hire me to do. When I show up to one of my own gigs, I pull out all the tricks. But like I said, you hire me....I play what I was hired for.
About
Born on O’ahu and raised in Maui, he started playing Ukulele at the age of 5. By freshman year at H.P. Baldwin High School he was already affiliated with a Halau/Production company at the age of 14 and performed professionally at various venues on the island of Maui. It was his first job and only job in his high school years. When he graduated, he could play ukulele, bass, guitar, piano and Tahitian percussion. He then moved back to O’ahu to attended BYUH in La’ie where he graduated with a B.A. in Music (Major) and Hawaiian Studies (Minor) furthering his knowledge with music theory and live sound engineering. After college, Neva Rego took him in after a five year wait, teaching him the Bel Canto vocal style. Neva Rego has been with him for 6 plus years. His first job out of college was being hired as a musician at Paradise Cove in Ko'olina. He then transferred over to the lights and sound department to help better the show. After leaving Paradise Cove, Ka'imi has worked as a Sales Associate at Easy Music Center in Pearl City for 6 years where he specialized in ukulele and live sound equipment. Ka`imi has experience with all aspects of music ranging from behind the stage as a sound technician to on stage as the main act. His current instrument of choice is the guitar. He alone has enough material for a four-hour solo gig, but loves to perform with his band HiRiZ or sub/sit-in with other musicians.
Additional booking notes
I bring my own sound equipment. Price may vary if you request more sound. All I need is a power outlet, coverage if it's out doors, and a specific place/time to perform.

Influences and inspiration
I've played a couple weddings recently. It was really heart felt. I play from the heart and many clients that hired me could tell/feel what my music was getting across. Every gig I do, there is that one person or persons that really appreciate what I do. They influence me to perform more.
