About

Music has always been more than a career for Julie—it has been a calling, a creative outlet, and a way of connecting with people. As an award-winning songwriter, vocalist, pianist, and educator, Julie has spent more than four decades sharing music that inspires, encourages, celebrates, and creates lasting memories. Whether performing for weddings, restaurants, women's events, private gatherings, churches, or community celebrations, she considers it a privilege to use her gifts to enrich the lives of others through music.
Julie's love of music began long before she ever stepped onto a stage. Raised in a musical family, both of her parents were singers, and music was woven into the fabric of everyday life. At eight years old, she began taking piano lessons and continued studying throughout high school and college, developing the strong musical foundation that continues to shape her career today.
Even as a little girl, Julie knew she loved to perform. At church, she would happily make her way from one Sunday school class to another asking if she could sing for them. Looking back, she laughs at the confidence she had as a child, but those early experiences planted the seeds for a lifetime of sharing music with others.
Creativity has always been at the heart of who Julie is. Along with music, she has always loved painting, decorating, landscaping, and finding beauty in everyday life. When it came time to choose a college major, she seriously considered studying art. Ultimately, she chose music because it was more relational. Music offered the opportunity not only to create something beautiful but also to share it directly with people. At the same time, people were already asking her to sing and play for events, and she recognized that those opportunities were opening doors she was meant to walk through.
Julie believes music is unlike any other art form. "Music is a unique language that can change the atmosphere and go straight to the soul," she says. "I feel it's a privilege to have the gift to do it." That belief continues to shape every performance she gives. She doesn't simply play songs; she carefully curates her repertoire to complement the unique style, mood, and audience of every event. Whether performing contemporary favorites, Broadway classics, worship music, timeless oldies, jazz standards, or beloved love songs, Julie strives to create an experience that is personal, meaningful, and memorable.
In addition to her work as a performer, Julie is an award-winning, published songwriter. She was honored as the Grand Prize Winner of the Write About Jesus Songwriting Conference, recognizing her gifts as a composer and lyricist. She has also released two full-length studio albums of original music, Speak What I Believe and Changes. These projects were inspired by her deep Christian faith and her desire for people to know God's love through Jesus Christ, experience the power of the Holy Spirit, and discover the purpose He has for their lives. Creating and sharing those albums as an independent artist was one of the great joys of her musical journey.
Over time, however, Julie discovered that while she loved recording and songwriting, her greatest fulfillment comes through personal interaction. Whether she is performing for a wedding, teaching a piano lesson, leading worship, or entertaining guests at a special event, she treasures the opportunity to build relationships and encourage people face-to-face. She has come to realize that this relational aspect of music is where her personality and gifts shine most brightly.
Teaching also became an unexpected and deeply rewarding part of Julie's career. She never set out to become a piano teacher. Instead, one of her mother's friends asked if she would teach her son to play the piano. One student became another, then another, and before long a thriving teaching studio developed entirely through word of mouth. More than forty years later, Julie has never needed to advertise. Families have continued recommending her because of the caring relationships she builds with both students and parents. She considers it one of God's unexpected blessings that this part of her career found her rather than the other way around.
As a teacher, Julie's goal extends far beyond helping students play the correct notes. She enjoys watching confidence grow alongside musical ability and believes music teaches valuable life lessons in perseverance, creativity, discipline, and self-expression. Some of her students have remained with her for many years, and she treasures the opportunity to watch children grow into young adults while sharing in their musical journey.
Julie's love for worship has also played a significant role in developing her musicianship. She and her husband have faithfully served on the worship team at their church for more than thirty years. She often smiles as she remembers worship leaders handing her songs she thought were beyond her abilities. "Why do they think I can sing this?" she would wonder. Yet their confidence challenged her to work harder, strengthen her vocal technique, and grow as a singer. Looking back, she is grateful they believed in her before she fully believed in herself. Today she especially enjoys leading people in worship and hearing an entire congregation lift their voices together in praise.
Throughout her performing career, Julie has become known for her professionalism, warmth, and reliability. Clients appreciate not only her musical excellence but also her calm, collaborative approach. She understands that every event is unique and works closely with clients to create an atmosphere that reflects their vision. Whether performing for an intimate gathering or a large audience, Julie brings the same level of preparation, enthusiasm, and care.
Her performance credits include the Alive Christian Music Festival, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee Dinner at the Canton Civic Center, appearances with the Cleveland Pops Combo, performances at Firestone Country Club, and music for numerous wedding ceremonies and receptions throughout Northeast Ohio. She has also performed for churches, restaurants, community organizations, charitable events, women's groups, and countless private celebrations.
Julie and her husband are lifelong residents of Northeast Ohio and genuinely love calling it home. They appreciate the beauty of four distinct seasons, the area's rich arts and culture, and especially the hardworking people who care deeply about their communities. Julie believes Northeast Ohio is a wonderful place to raise a family because of the strong values, work ethic, and sense of community found throughout the region.
Family is one of life's greatest blessings for Julie. She and her husband are thankful that all three of their grown sons, along with their daughters-in-law and four grandchildren, live within ten minutes of their home. Gathering together each week has become a treasured family tradition. Julie often prepares a large dinner for everyone, followed by dessert—always the grandchildren's favorite part of the evening. Those simple evenings filled with laughter, conversation, and togetherness remind her of what matters most.
When she isn't performing or teaching, Julie happily trades her dress shoes for gardening gloves. She often jokes that she lives two completely different lives. One day she may be dressed elegantly, performing for an audience, and the next she is outside in work clothes, happily covered in dirt while tending her flower gardens and landscaping. She finds tremendous satisfaction in creating beautiful outdoor spaces and enjoys the peace that comes from working in the fresh air and sunshine.
Julie and her husband also enjoy walking and bike riding together throughout the year—even during Ohio winters. One of their favorite places is the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, where the historic canal once carried passengers and goods pulled by mule teams. Today those same paths have become beautiful trails for walking and cycling, providing one more reason they are grateful to call Northeast Ohio home.
Hospitality is another important part of Julie's life. She and her husband enjoy opening their home to friends for parties, holiday celebrations, and casual evenings together. Guests often comment that their home has a warm, welcoming, and generous atmosphere. Creating spaces where people feel comfortable, cared for, and connected reflects the same heart Julie brings to her music.
After more than forty years of performing, songwriting, teaching, and leading worship, Julie remains just as passionate about music as she was when she first walked into Sunday school classrooms asking if she could sing. She believes music is one of God's greatest gifts—a language that reaches beyond words to comfort, celebrate, inspire, and unite people. Whether she is performing for a wedding, encouraging a beginning piano student, leading a congregation in worship, sharing an original song, or simply sitting at the piano with family and friends, Julie is grateful for every opportunity to use music to bring joy, hope, beauty, and connection to the lives of others.
