J.R. Guayo - Solo Acoustic
Overview
Bilingual Acoustic Entertainment | 90s Rock to Rock en Español
Solo singer-guitarist for private parties, weddings, corporate events, and holiday gatherings across Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland.
90s alt-rock (Pearl Jam, Matchbox Twenty), sing-along classics (Elton John, The Beatles), and current hits (Teddy Swims). Born in Puerto Rico, I also play rock en español (Soda Stereo, Maná) and Latin classics. Quiet background or full sing-along: I adjust to the room.
New to GigSalad, not new to the stage: 30+ years performing, now at Old Town's Rustico, Augie's Bier Garden, and Southside 815. References and videos on request.
Now booking holiday parties. Holiday classics on request.

What to expect
Professional sound, every time. Taylor guitars through QSC and Bose S1 Pro+ systems: clear and warm at conversation level, with enough volume for a patio party.
Self-contained and compact. I fit in a 6'x6' space, need one standard outlet, and can run on battery power for parks and outdoor ceremonies.
Reliable. I arrive early, set up quickly, and stay professional from load-in to load-out.
Built around your event. Send me your must-play and do-not-play lists, a first-dance song, or a family favorite, and I'll shape the set around them.
About
J.R. Guayo was born in Puerto Rico and came up in the 80s and 90s rock scene (ask him about his band Rockshott). More than 30 years and seven albums later (check out (link hidden)), he brings a producer's ear for sound and a crowd-first approach to every show, in English and Spanish.
Additional booking notes
For the majority of events (from intimate cocktail hours to bustling brewery patios), I am a fully self-contained act. I arrive with my own professional sound reinforcement and a small light setup. My setup is compact (fitting in a 6'x6' space), and I only require access to a standard electrical outlet.
I can even run fully on battery power for remote locations like parks or beach ceremonies where power isn't available. However, if you are planning a large-scale event in a ballroom or an expansive outdoor space, we should connect to discuss whether integrating with a house system or renting additional sound reinforcement is necessary to properly cover the area.
