Josh Scalf is a freelance trombonist/bass trombonist from Panama City, Florida, capable of sight reading at a high level in all styles, from Funk, Jazz, Soul and R&B to Country, Rock or even Sacred music in churches.
I am willing to travel world wide, despite what this sight may imply, and am capable also on tuba and trumpet.
I have the contacts to form a very high quality horn section encompassing from 3 to 12 horns, or am available to join your horn section you have put together.
I am willing to drive all around the south east or fly where needed, and would love nothing else than to work with other great musicians doing what they love.

I can provide the highest possible level of professional expertise expected of a commercial trombonist whether in a horn section, part of a big band, or as a sideman within your group. I am also comfortable with singing background vocals.
I have been a professional musician for the last 6 years, having worked freelance around the south east, as well as a trombonist and musical director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines on board the Navigator, Freedom and Allure of the Seas. I am now back in my hometown of Panama City and working to create a better music scene here and around the gulf coast by actively campaigning for more music and better musicians in the area. I have currently been working a lot in Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Pensacola and Panama City with some fine players.
I am of the mindset that early is the only form of on time, and I expect the same from any musicians I recommend or work with. Preparedness is also a hallmark of what I do. If I have access to what is needed, I'll show up to any rehearsal ready to nail my part and otherwise be in good spirits to try to encourage those around me.
I come pretty much self contained.
I know tons of tunes and my reading skills are top notch. Whatever style, tempo and key, I can read it, and very well.
