Overview

Background: Classical, New Age, Standards, Mainstream Jazz/Blues, rock from '60s-today, and today's pop music, all on the piano.

As a composer, I focus on keyboard-based instrumental music - but I've written a song or two, and have scored for woodwind quintet, solo flute, string duo (violin/bass) and full orchestra.

As an accompanist, I specialize in vocal (soloist and full choir) accompanying, but have accompanied several solo instrumentals - Flute, Tuba, French Horn.

Classically trained, I am proficient at sight reading, and can read a transposed score. I can also improvise based off of a chord chart (chord symbols or Nashville Numbers), and free-improvise.

About

I have been studying music for 25 years, with focus on keyboard instruments, especially piano. I attended Loyola University New Orleans with emphasis on Music Education and Composition, which gave the ability to perform and write with a wide variety of instruments and personalities. My private study continued throughout my schooling, after which I opened up my own piano studio in conjunction with my teaching position after college.

In addition to keyboards, I have studied percussion instruments, and am self-taught on the mandolin.

If I am asked to provide music for your event or venue, I can provide amplification for outside venues, along with an array of keyboard and software instruments (if desired, or a piano is not available). I can tailor my playlist to specific moods desired by the event planner(s), and will take requests, provided I have time to learn them before the event.

If I am asked to compose (a) piece(s), I will take into account what that piece is accompanying, the events occurring during the music, and the expected evocation of the audience's emotion and imagination. I have written several pieces for video games in recent years.
