John Ibarra

You can expect me to be prepared and professionally present myself. I also give an energy filled expression through singing and playing guitar.

Ever since I was a kid I’ve been singing, either singing harmony with The Beach Boys and my mom having me switch to another Harmony or singing in kids choir; my life has been enveloped in music.

As I got into junior high and high school, I sang in choir at School and started to sing and play guitar with my local church. I’m really grateful for the great musicians and leaders I had around me through my high school years. I was even lucky enough to be apart of a traveling worship band that would play youth camps and district conferences. We eventually recorded a small EP and even played at a Christian festival called Spirit West Coast.

After high school I moved to the Los Angeles area for Bible School. During my time there I was able to learn from some fellow musicians and singer, as well as a music professor that was a feniminal violinist.

During my time in Bible School, I was selected to be apart of the traveling Worship Band/Chior. We traveled all over the west coast from LA to Calexico, to Phoenix and Las Vegas, to Portland, Seattle and all of Northern California. It was a great learning experience for me! I got to learn what it was like to be on the road for months at a time. I got to learn how to be flexible with what a stage set up is like, either good or bad. But yet still be able to sing and play together as a band and sing together as a chior even though it may be hard to hear everything. Being apart of that traveling team opened the door for me to lead worship at youth conferences and big district events that my school was apart of. Through school, I was able to make some good friends and lead along side Edward Rivera who has since graduating sang with Israel Houghton, Bj Putnam and now leads at Bethel Music.

After I graduated, I was hired onto staff at Family Church in Whittier, where I’ve been the past couple years. I’ve been there leading worship for both the all three Sunday morning services and leading the youth services. Over my years there, I’ve given vocal lessons, guitar lessons and developed some of our lead vocalist. I have a good ear for harmonies and love working with others to come together and have one big full sound.

Since I’ve been at the church, we’ve recorded one album along with a couple EP’s. I’ve also had the opportunity to sing on an outside album done by Brock Baker. Ive been able to sing along side some great vocalist like Luke Edgemon who has encouraged me to get better in my craft. I really feel blessed to have been surrounded with so many great vocalist that have helped me develop into the singer and musician I am today.

UPDATE:

I have now brought my family and I to the great state of Texas. My wife and I have felt called to move here for quite some time. I love the area, the heart for community and can’t wait to see what God has for us out here!
