About
Born and raised on a steady diet of rock and soul, Joey Love made the move from Pennsylvania to Texas in 1979. There, he discovered a vibrant musical melting pot that included blues, reggae, rock, R&B, country, and jam band influences—an eclectic mix that continues to shape his sound today.
For more than 30 years, Joey has been a familiar presence on stages throughout Dallas/Fort Worth and across Texas. Leading The Joey Love Trio, he’s performed at numerous festivals and venues ranging from intimate clubs to regional circuits. While the trio remains active, his solo acoustic performances have increasingly captured attention since the pandemic, showcasing his dynamic interpretations of blues, R&B, reggae, rock, and more.
Alongside his own projects, Joey has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Wanda King (daughter of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Freddie King) Texas Slim, and East Texas favorite TD Wilt. His performance credits include bills with Eddie Money, Robert Randolph, Billy Cox (Band of Gypsys), Eric Johnson, Etta James, The Blues Brothers (Dan Aykroyd & Jim Belushi), Bobby “Blue” Bland, Hubert Sumlin, and David Sanborn. He has also opened shows for legends including Johnny Winter, Blue Öyster Cult, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan, Savoy Brown, W.C. Clark, Monte Montgomery, and Stephen Bruton, and even appeared in a national TV commercial with Texas Slim and the Love Machine for Famous Dave’s BBQ.
As a recording artist, Joey has released two independent CDs—Good Phone and Live, Raw and Uncut (engineered by Chet Himes, known for work with Carole King, Ted Nugent, Christopher Cross, and Austin City Limits). He also co-wrote and recorded on Wanda King’s album Bridges. His music has been featured in both regional and national publications, including Blues Revue and Living Blues, while his song Last Broken Heart was included on an independent artist compilation distributed worldwide with SPIN Magazine.
