Hired Jocelyn for a private afternoon function. It was very pleasant experience from start to finish. She read the mood of the event and played just the right mix of music. Everyone loved her and she definitely picked up a few more fans for her public gigs. Would definitely use her again.

We hired Jocelyn to play at a birthday party event that we hosted for our family. Jocelyn was an absolute delight to work with, and is beyond professional. She provided logistics, a comprehensive playlist, and answered all of our questions well in advance of the event itself. We had a number of children at our event, and Jocelyn was wonderful with them. We did some sing-alongs which created such a special evening for our family. Her talent and artistic abilities are wide ranging - do not hesitate to book her for your next event.

Jocelyn's performance for our wedding was absolutely perfect and exactly the vibe we were going for. She performed our ceremony music and cocktail hour. I was planning our wedding from out of state, and she was always happy to email about my thoughts and jump on the phone to plan it all out. Her voice is incredible - I actually found her because she performed at a friend's wedding first, and I loved her sound so much that she was my frontrunner for our wedding as well. She is extremely talented - our guests raved about her all night.

Playing popular acoustic covers from the 50's to today and across many genres, Jocelyn's energy has a way of making her audiences feel right at home. The pure vocals and impressive range of this artist will astound you all while she effortlessly accompanies herself on both guitar and ukulele. Jocelyn shows extreme versatility with her vast repertoire but also in her ability to adapt to any and all situations; she is equally comfortable providing soft background music or putting on a show when the occasion calls. What makes her performances even more exciting is how she is able to incorporate the use of todays latest technology into her act via live looping and vocal effects pedals (while nothing is prerecorded). She knows how to add just the right amount of "extras" to make your head turn without taking over the show. You might not even realize what is going on, but your ear will tell you "hey this girl sounds great!"
Unlike many musicians in her field, Jocelyn is not a songwriter. Her entire focus is on recreating popular tunes that folks know and love. This means she WANTS to play for your event and is not simply taking gigs to pay the bills while she yearns to be discovered.

Jocelyn Oldham has been entertaining crowds for over 14 years all throughout Virginia and up and down the east coast. She nails covers by artist such as Sheryl Crow, Jewel, the Beatles, Colbie Caillet, Alison Krauss, Eva Cassidy (a favorite), Ingrid Michaelson, Van Morrison and many many more.
This girl can deliver what you need for your event, from quiet background music to set the ambience to starting a dance party, she can make it all happen. Jocelyn specialized in all types of events such as wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, receptions, rehearsal dinners, backyard parties, and corporate events... no job is too small or too big.
But wait there's more! With 9 years of experience making music with small children and their families teaching Music Together, Jocelyn also has an "in" with the younger crowd! A vast repertoire of children's tunes are always right up her sleeve as she puts on an engaging interactive "show" for kids 6 and below (and their parents) with plenty of props and rhythm instruments in tow to keep everyone entertained and having a ball.

About
Born and raised a New England girl, Jocelyn Oldham has now spent nearly half her life in Virginia. She performs full time as a solo artist all over Richmond, Hampton Roads, and beyond for any and all occasions, yet is also available as a duo with a fantastic fiddle player or her phenomenal husband on sax.
Jocelyn started her journey down south back in 1995 when she headed to Blacksburg, VA and earned a BA in Music Education at Virginia Tech. Soon after graduating she returned to Virginia to perform at the (former) Music Theatre of Williamsburg (now the Crosswalk Church). In 2004 she became licensed to teach a music class for young children called Music Together and she ran a small successful center in Williamsburg for 9 years. Jocelyn has performed with various Hampton Roads bands such as "The Rhythm Kings" and "Me & JO" but has found she is most happy on her own as a solo act. After spending 12 years in Williamsburg, Jocelyn moved to Richmond in 2013 and got married to the love of her life, Karl von Klein, who teaches music at Maggie Walker Governors School.
Jocelyn has been working as a full time professional musician since 2001, she loves what she does and is proud to provide to her clients a polished product.
Additional booking notes
I can perform in just about any situation. I require nothing but space and access to power. In situations where there is no power, I also have a Honda EU2000 inverter generator I can provide for an additional fee.
