My performances are all about engaging the crowd with energy. I have always been told I have great stage presence, so don’t expect a boring show. I love to bring the crowd into my performances through participation, if the song calls for it. Expect a rap show that’s fun, entertaining, and will leave you with an earworm.

J.J. Carr is a 23-year-old rapper and audio engineer from Houston, Texas. The The He was born into a musical family of singers and instrumentalists that performed in church choirs throughout Texas. Along with that, his parents are Hip Hop and R&B heads that experienced the Screw era in Houston firsthand. He began writing raps at the age of 10 and eventually moved to releasing his music to the world on SoundCloud as a high schooler.

At 18, J.J. would move to Washington, DC, and enroll in the illustrious Howard University, where he would graduate in five years with a Bachelor’s in Audio Production. While in school, he gained valuable live show experience by performing in open mics and music showcases throughout the DMV, and continued releasing singles as he learned to engineer his own music.

He is heavily influenced by well-known rappers the likes of Pierre Bourne, Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z, as well as pillars of Houston's rap scene like Lil Keke, Z-Ro, Slim Thug, and Trae Tha Truth. With every song he makes, J.J.'s goal is to create music that you can feel; if you listen to one of his songs and don't get that euphoric, almost orgasmic feeling in your chest that you only get when you listen to a song that's timeless, he hasn't done his job.

All I require is a sound system with a microphone and a DJ to send my tracks to. If there’s no DJ available, please make sure I can connect to the sound system via my phone or a laptop.
