Jim Bachman began playing the guitar at age seven and then started formal lessons at ten. At the age of fourteen he began studying classical guitar with New York guitarist, Bob Peorine. After studying in New York, Jim moved to California where he received his Bachelors degree in Music from California Polytechnic State University.

April 11, 2023Jim’s professionalism went above and beyond. He was very easy to correspond with even when I needed to make slight changes right before the ceremony. He made things flow easily, was incredibly timely, and his music was everything we could’ve hoped for. I would definitely recommend Jim for any event needing beautiful, acoustic guitar music.!!!

April 7, 2017Jim played solo guitar for an hour leading up to our ceremony and played the processional songs as well. The wedding was outdoors in a garden and the music was equally as beautiful as the surroundings. He arrived early and did a phenomenal job. We arranged everything remotely since it was a destination wedding and he more than surpassed our expectations. He was incredibly professional, very responsive on email and even helped us make our music selections. We would absolutely hire him again and recommend him to anyone requiring a guitarist.

June 16, 2016This review is long overdue. James played at my wedding almost two years ago and he did an absolutely excellent job. He added a relaxed and classy ambiance to the cocktail hour. He also provided the music I walked down the aisle to. I'm so grateful to have had such an amazing musician at my wedding. Several guests commented on how lovely the music was. He was one of my absolute favorite vendors for the wedding. I highly recommend him. He is easy to get along with, very talented and will listen to your requests in order to make your day special. While attending Cal Poly, Jim studied Classical Guitar and Lute with Dr. Craig Russell, Guitar Performance with Mathew Grief, Music Education with Dr. Alison Mc Lamore, Music Theory with John Russell, and Piano with Dr. Terry Spiller. Jim also studied Jazz guitar with Ted Greene, Bruce Forman, and Reid Alburger. Jim has performed in numerous master classes with Scott Tennent, Alex De Grassi , Dusan Bogdanovic, Christopher Parkening, and Jeff Linsky.
Besides teaching guitar at Cal Poly and his private studio, Jim has become one of the most sought after guitar performers on the Central Coast because of his vast musical repertoire and years of performing experience. Jim performs at many different types of venues and events including weddings, private parties, and local upscale venues.
Past performances include: The Cal Poly Pac, Cafe’ Roma, Village Cafe’, Adelaida Cellars, The Jack House, For Senator Jack O’Connell, Castoro Cellars, Edna valley Vineyard, Laetitia Cellars, and numerous weddings and private parties.
In addition to Solo Guitar performance, Jim can also provide small groups such as a DUET with two guitars, or a TRIO with percussion.
