Jessy is a gifted worship leader, speaker, and trainer. He really engages with his audience and provides a meaningful experience for people of all ages.
Jessy Vera was born and raised in Sacramento, CA (well technically he was raised in Elk Grove, CA). After giving his life to Christ at a youth conference in Colorado, Jessy has devoted his life to serving the King of Kings. He has been a part of worship teams and performing with a band or solo since 1999 most recently on staff full-time as Director of Worship Ministries at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, IA. (Well technically Marion, IA) God called him and his family here to focus on music ministry full-time.
In the summer of 2004, Jessy released his first full- length worship album featuring 11 original songs written and performed by himself. With the help of producer Ralph Stover (Plus One, Maranatha praise band, Peculiar People Band), Jessy created an album similar to such artists as Matt Redman, David Crowder, Martin Smith of Delirious, and Chris Tomlin. The CD, entitled “A Thousand Tongues”, is intensely passionate and reaches into the soul of the listener. Jessy’s heart and his style attracts people of all ages and his lyrics challenge them to worship God in Spirit and in Truth.
Traveling with his own band or solo, Jessy has been blessed to perform, lead conferences and plan services throughout the United States, India, Brazil, Haiti, and Mexico. He considers it an honor to be used in such a powerful way as he helps to usher the church into the presence of God.
In addition, Jessy has spent numerous years as a performing musician. The band Cornerstone began in 1999 with 7 musicians playing ska. Over the next 9 years Jessy sang and wrote the songs amidst many changing musical styles and personnel. In 2008 Cornerstone released their final CD and played their final concert.
Jessy can travel as a solo act, small ensemble, or full band.
