Jessica Scarlato

Italian-Canadian Soprano, Jessica Scarlato is a sought after performer for many events and occasions throughout Canada and Europe. She received her master's degree in Opera Performance at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University and continued her studies and training at the Istituzione Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di A. Belli, in Spoleto Italy; The Renata Scotto Opera Program, in Naples, Florida, and The Accademia Europea Dell'Opera (AEDO), in Lucca, Italy, to name a few. Her opera roles include: Donna Elvira, Don Giovanni (Opera McGill); The Governess, The Turn of the Screw (Opera McGill); Fiordiligi, Cosi fan tutte (AEDO); La Contessa Le Nozze di Figaro (AEDO).

Jessica is also a beloved vocal instructor and has been sharing her knowledge and experience with her clients of all levels, ages + music genres for the past 8 years.
She teaches beginner to advanced students the basics of vocal technique in the classical, contemporary, and musical theatre genres, as well as preparing her clients for auditions, vocal exams (The Royal Conservatory of Music), recitals/performances and even that karaoke night with family and friends!

She incorporates ear training + music theory in her vocal lessons which helps her clients build the confidence they need when they collaborate with other musicians.

Jessica has always believed that singers are performing athletes and takes a unique approach during her vocal lessons. She is a certified Fitness Instructor Specialist through Canfitpro and incorporates various strength training exercises during her lessons. It is important as singers to develop and strengthen our vocal stamina not only through vocal exercises but through full body movements and deep breathing techniques. Having a strong yet flexible core and support system, she finds, makes all the difference to achieving effortless singing. Jessica will have you wall sitting, squatting, planking, and some, during your lessons so you may want to have a towel near by and dress appropriately.

Before discovering music, Jessica was a dancer and studied ballet, tap, jazz, acro & hip hop, and competed throughout Canada and the US for 6 years. It was at a dance completion in Detroit, Michigan, where Jessica entered an open category and instead of performing her jazz solo routine, Jessica decided to sing a song. The song was Memory from the musical Cats; Jessica came in First Place and ended up winning the competition. She has never looked back ever since and has been enjoying a singing career that has not only brought her around the world, presenting once in a life time opportunities and experiences, but has enriched her life. Music has brought Jessica her most dearest friendships and it is these connections that Jessica cherishes most.
