Excellent!

Very late to the review game here but we had Jeremy and his band play at our restaurant event for New Year's Eve this past year. The whole band was great, people were happy and had a great time. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic

Jeremy sang at our holiday party and created the perfect vibe for our event. He has a beautiful voice and a lovely presence. We also asked him to sing for an extra half hour which he was kind enough to accommodate at the last minute. Highly recommend!

Best decision we could have made.

Jeremy and the group he put together for our wedding were phenomenal. From the minute we entered to the end of the night, all the music was tastefully thought out and wondefully executed. They even learned a few new songs that we requested, including masterfully matching the feel and tempo for our first dance. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how great the live music was, best decision we could have made. Highly recommend.

This group did not disappoint!!!

What a brilliant and talented group these people are! Our guests raved about the their cool, smooth style. The were consummate professionals, and just in general, all around engaging, friendly and wonderful people!

This group would provide a wonderful ambiance to:
* corporate cocktail parties
* restaurants
* parties
I threw a casual cocktail party for my sweetheart's 70th birthday in the Gardens at Park & Tilford for about 40 guests. The group provided the most perfect compliment to this casual, yet elegant affair. Alan loved it! 😁❤️🥰 I would have provided pictures, but we were SO in the moment I have to see who at the party too some. I'll add them (if I can) later...

High wattage quality music and entertainment

This band was amazing,
- chill music during cocktail hour
- excellent sets of varried music that inspired people to dance through out the set
- interaction with audience
- band members enjoying the music and performing together which created a 'vibe'

Absolutely would hire any band selected by Jeremy - but this line up in particular was great to watch!

What to expect

I'm very flexible and can cater to the specific needs of your event. That can be a chill duo or trio playing in the background, or a more energetic quartet/quintet performance. Have a dance floor? We can bring the classic ballroom vibes or some retro pop and RnB. With enough notice, I can even get you a big band!

About

Jeremy Wong is one of Vancouver's rising stars of jazz, with a rich baritone that evokes such classic voices as Nat King Cole and Johnny Hartman, along with modern greats like Kurt Elling. Like Elling, he is a fellow disciple of vocalese, following in the footsteps of Jon Hendricks and bringing old standards new life through his poignant, honest lyrics and storytelling.

A seasoned performer, Jeremy's resume includes festival appearances fronting the Bruce James Orchestra, the role of Paul in Pascal Saunier's jazz opera, Le Destin du Jazz Club, many gigs around Vancouver, and entertaining in lounges aboard cruise ships the world over. Since returning to Vancouver, Jeremy's debut album, Hey There, was released on the Cellar Live label in September 2022.

Jeremy holds a Diploma of Jazz Studies from Capilano University where he studied with Steve Maddock and Jennifer Scott. In Rejean Marois' acclaimed ensemble, Nitecap, Jeremy shared the stage with modern greats: Maria Schneider, Donny McCaslin, Ambrose Akinmusire, and Canadian stars Bria Skonberg and Laila Biali. Outside of jazz, Jeremy also has extensive experience in the worlds of choral music and barbershop harmony, including an international medal winning collegiate quartet, and appearances on TV, film, and radio.

Additional booking notes

Technical requirements may vary based on what size group you have me bring.

Most of our equipment we'll bring ourselves; we usually only need a space for the band to perform with access to power and a secure spot to store our bags and such while we're performing.

Note* for larger spaces (ie wedding halls, large conference centres, etc) you will need to supply a sound system and sound board. I have a small sound system but it is only suitable for smaller venues.

Set list

Generally, my bands would work in stretches of 45-60min on, ~15min off. This can be planned around the needs of your event.

My repertoire is vast and ever-expanding! It includes, but is not limited to:
- the American Songbook
- jazz standards
- bossa nova / Latin
- ballroom dance styles
- RnB
- retro/oldies pop

I sing primarily in English, though I also do a handful of tunes in Spanish, Portuguese, and French.

If there is a particular song you'd like me to include in the setlist, please ask in advance. I'm happy to learn a new tune or two for the gig, but that sometimes requires extra time to prepare and learn new charts.

Influences and inspiration

I lovingly refer to the gentlemen of the Rat Pack as my "gateway jazz," which led me to getting into the "harder" stuff later on; channeling Sinatra, Martin, and Sammy Davis come pretty naturally to me now. A few jazz singers that have particularly inspired me include Chet Baker, Jon Hendricks, Mark Murphy, and Kurt Elling.
