Overview
I am a pianist who specializes in all types of jazz music. I can perform in various ensemble arrangements or solo piano, depending on what the client desires. My groups are capable of playing quiet background music or more interactive main stage music. Myself and whatever group I bring encourage song requests to make sure the listener can enjoy our music to the fullest.

What to expect
While I am primarily a jazz musician, my style and content is not restricted to one sound and approach. My repertoire is flexible with tunes and arrangements fitting for both the quiet background and the interactive main stage. I can perform as a soloist and in various forms of duos, trios, quartets and so forth with instrumentations catering to the needs of the event.
Whether you need something laid back or outstanding, I'll guarantee swing and groove.
About
Jordan Anderson is an exceptional pianist from Minneapolis, MN. Anderson's musicality, dynamic range, outstanding swing feel, and commitment to jazz history has distinguished him as an irresistibly good musician. A true MSP jazz product, Anderson was trained at Walker West Music Academy, various iterations of the Dakota Combo and other Twin Cities young musician collaborations. He is now a third year Jazz Studies major at University of Michigan, currently studying with Andy Milne. He has performed at premier venues in both the Twin Cities and the greater Ann Arbor-Detroit area as well as having played on the main stage for both jazz festivals. Most recently Jordan co-wrote two songs featured in the December 2018 movie-release "Second Act" featuring actors Jennifer Lopez and Vanessa Hudgens.
Additional booking notes
If an employer has access to a piano, that would be great, but I also have my own keyboard. Amplifiers for keyboard and bass are always appreciated, but not necessary as my sidemen also have their own equipment. No specific stage requirements and if there is a sound system, those technical specifics can be worked out in person/over the phone/email

Set list
My basic repertoire includes old swing tunes from the Tin Pan Alley tradition, new orleans swing, modern jazz such as bebop and the avant garde and funky arrangements reminiscent of motown.
At the end of the day my job as a musician is to pick music that fits whatever you need, so I am always willing to learn new music for a performance and create a fresh setlist not restricted to my main repertoire.
Influences and inspiration
I have been influences by a lot of music, but have been specifically dedicating my practice time to further develop my knowledge of jazz music and it's roots. This means having an understanding of the compositions of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and other showtune composers, while also being able to perform the music of swing band era jazz, bebop, hard bop, and post 1950s modern jazz.
Setup requirements
Nothing required, but much appreciate if amplifiers and microphones are available.
