About
Ajna Kenning is a Japanese dancer, artist, and costume designer performing traditional Nihon buyō — the classical dance of Japan — in full kimono.
Her solo performances bring a rare, cinematic elegance to weddings, gala dinners, and corporate events across the San Francisco Bay Area and North Bay. Each piece is performed in authentic kimono, hand-styled for the stage, and can be tailored to your event's theme or program.
Beyond the stage, Ajna runs Kenning Productions, an event production company, so she plans with a planner's eye: punctual, self-sufficient, and easy to brief. She provides her own music [confirm], needs only a small performance space, and works with venues on staging and timing.
Services include solo dance performances, cultural showcases, and — as a signature add-on — kimono dressing experiences where guests are dressed in kimono for photos and celebration.
Ajna performs solo for Bay Area bookings. Past clients include Buddha Bar, Hotel Mandarin Oriental, DHL, Mazda and Subaru.

Influences and inspiration
My work is rooted in the classical Nihon buyō tradition and the great Japanese theater arts — kabuki and noh and contemporary Japanese dance. I'm also deeply inspired by vintage Japanese cinema and the artistry of kimono culture; every costume I wear on stage is hand-styled by me.
