Jamgrass Project
Overview
A free range string band, Jamgrass Project plays originals and specially-curated covers with plenty of room for stretching out into inventive jams. Playing unplugged or amplified on Mandolin, Guitar/Slide, Upright Bass, and Banjo/Dobro with three-way lead and harmony vocals, Jamgrass creates a "circle jam" on small stages, festival stages, and private events. We bring our own PA, plug into yours, or perform totally acoustic. Let the good times roll!

What to expect
A four-piece string band, Jamgrass performs folk, Old Time, Bluegrass, and singer-songwriter material with a free range spirit. The vibe ranges from mellow ballads to uptempo kickers -- all with ample opportunity for inventive solo breaks. Inventive interpretations of songs by Tom Petty, the Grateful Dead, Father John Misty, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, and New Order are woven into a musical mosaic of Old Time/Bluegrass standards and memorable original tunes.
About
A free range string band, Jamgrass Project features Brian Mahoney on mandolin and vocals (sometimes guitar), Michael Palmer on guitar/slide and vocals, Miguel Gonzalez on banjo/Dobro/12-string guitar and vocals (ask about the washboard!), and Joe Eisman on a 19th century upright bass (sometimes vocals). Longtime performers in the Oak Park/Berwyn/Forest Park scene, they're likewise longstanding members of the Oak Park Farmers Market Band. Collectively, they've performed with Ralph Covert (solo and Ralph's World), Alewife, Milk Money, The New Normal, These Peaches, and at many Open Mics. Miguel is a member of FAI (Folk Alliance International) and active in FARM (Folk Alliance Region Midwest).
Additional booking notes
Jamgrass Project is ready to go with its own PA, mics, amps, and gear. For small stages and festivals, our stage plot is simple as all four instruments can plug-in via direct boxes or very reasonably-sized amplifiers. As a string band it's easy-on and easy-off in any situation.
