Jabari Sims, The Main Character Coach
Overview
Jabari Sims is The Main Character Coach, a keynote speaker and mental performance coach who helps people stop waiting for permission and start living as the main character in their own story. After more than two decades as an educator, coach, and youth program leader, he self-funded a Protective Security Specialist certification at 48 and deployed to the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad as a private contractor. That reinvention became the IT'S ME Protocol: Identify It, Take Responsibility, Stop Scanning, Make the Main Character Decision, Execute. Jabari speaks to corporate teams, conventions, schools, and athletic programs, and is the author of the upcoming memoir Don't Roll the Credits Yet.

What to expect
Expect a talk that is:
• Personal. I share my own story, including the fear of failing publicly that kept me from starting for years, and what changed when I decided to go anyway.
• Practical. Everyone walks away with the IT'S ME Protocol, five steps they can apply to pressure, doubt, comparison, and big decisions: Identify It, Take Responsibility, Stop Scanning, Make the Main Character Decision, Execute.
• Interactive. I keep the room involved, so it feels like a conversation and not a slideshow.
• Energetic and honest. Expect humor, heart, and straight talk without the hype.
• Right-sized. Keynotes are available in 10, 20, and 45 minute versions, and I tailor language and examples to your group.
I speak to corporate leadership teams, conventions, schools and educational programs, and athletic teams and programs. Whether the room is executives, educators, or student-athletes, the message is the same: you are the main character, and the next scene is yours to write.
If an audience came to see you, what would they see? If a client hired you, what would they get?
What an audience sees
A high-energy, story-driven keynote built around the IT'S ME Protocol. They hear a real story, laugh, think, and then get a simple five-step process for owning their decisions, quieting comparison, and taking action. People leave knowing exactly what their next step is.
What a client gets
• A customized keynote (10, 20, or 45 minutes) matched to your audience, theme, and event goals
• A pre-event conversation so the message fits your people and your outcomes
• A speaker who is easy to work with, prepared, on time, and fully engaged with your attendees
• Options for virtual or in-person delivery
• Optional extras: Q&A, a breakout or workshop format, and Director's Cut Journals for attendees to keep working the process after the event
Who it works well for
• Corporate leadership teams focused on accountability, confidence, and performance under pressure
• Conventions and conferences that want a memorable, uplifting keynote
• Schools and educational programs that want students to own their choices and their story
• Athletic programs that want mental performance tools athletes can use in competition and in life
Book Jabari Sims to give your audience a message they remember and a framework they actually use.
About
Jabari Sims is The Main Character Coach, a keynote speaker and mental performance coach who helps people stop waiting for permission and start living as the main character in their own story.
Before he ever stepped on a stage, Jabari spent more than two decades inside schools and on sidelines. He coached high school basketball, taught as an educator from kindergarten through high school, and served as former program director at Boys and Girls Clubs, Garden Grove, California, where he grew an after-school program from zero to 100 daily members in under three months. He also led AYSO Region 5 as Regional Commissioner.
At 48, with no military background, he self-funded his Protective Security Specialist certification and deployed to the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad as a private contractor. At 50, he launched his own business. Out of that reinvention came the IT'S ME Protocol, a five-step framework: Identify It, Take Responsibility, Stop Scanning, Make the Main Character Decision, Execute.
Jabari is a certified life coach and certified anger management instructor, holds a B.S. in Psychology, and speaks to corporate leadership teams, conventions, educational audiences, and athletic programs. His debut memoir, Don't Roll the Credits Yet, is coming soon. He lives in Huntington Beach, California.
Additional booking notes
I keep my requirements simple so your event runs smoothly. Here is what I need for an in-person keynote.
**Sound**
- One wireless microphone, with a headset or lavalier preferred so my hands are free. A handheld wireless mic also works.
- A working sound system with someone available to run it, or a contact who can show me how to use it.
- A quick sound check before doors open or before the session starts (15 to 20 minutes is plenty).
**Staging**
- A stage, riser, or open floor space where I can move and walk toward the audience. I prefer not to stay behind a podium.
- A small table or stool nearby for water and notes.
- Any seating setup works: theater, rounds, classroom, or gym bleachers.
**Lighting**
- Basic stage or front-of-room lighting so the audience can see me clearly.
- Audience lighting kept bright enough for interaction. I involve the room, so I do not need a dark house.
**Slides and Video (optional)**
- My talk does not depend on slides. If you want them, I need a projector or screen with an HDMI connection and a laptop or clicker. I can send slides ahead of time.
**Arrival and Setup**
- I arrive 45 to 60 minutes before my start time for a walkthrough and sound check.
- Please share your event schedule, a day-of contact, and parking or loading details in advance.
**Virtual Events**
- Available on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or your preferred platform.
- I ask for a test link and a short tech check before the event date.
**Customization**
- I am happy to work within your venue's setup. If you have limits on sound, space, or timing, let me know and I will adapt.
Keynotes run 10, 20, or 45 minutes, plus optional Q&A.
