J. Shields has devoted over 2 decades to the world of songwriting. From his early years spent playing in bands in the Atlanta music scene to working and writing with aspiring songwriters and artists, J. has remained focused on strengthening the craftsmanship and integrity of his songs. Performing at the world famous Eddie's Attic to Smith's Old Bar, he's honed his skills as a musician and artist.

His music has evolved over the years, from an angst-filled youth of punk-rock and heavy metal to the more cerebral realm of instrospection found in folk-americana music.
