j.ferg is a singing guitarist based in northern Rhode Island known for his gravelly voiced brand of roots-rockin', cowboy-folk stompin' Americana covers. He has spent the past 6 years playing solo as j.ferg music and with his acoustic duo, The Chicago Robbery, working throughout southern New England. J is a terrific entertainer and singer he was great for my parents 50th anniversary.
We had a 50 person corporate bbq and Jay had the perfect vibe for the event. Made for a wonderful event.
They exceeded our expectations! They made our parents 50th Anniversary party even more special! Truly talented! I would highly recommend this group for any party!
I booked the 4 piece band for a surprise birthday party. They were excellent. The band played all the songs I selected from the play list and the crowd was up dancing with them. I would highly recommend them.
Response from j.ferg music:
Thank you very much, we had a great time!
I searched through dozens of bands and watched a hundred videos before I decided on The Chicago Robbery for my event. They came on as the second band for an after dinner set, their upbeat style was just what we needed to breath some life into the second half of the event. They were gracious enough to play along with the fire performer we had hired, making her performance even more magical, and proving they were absolutely the best group for the job! They might be only two guys but they have a sound that is bigger then you can imagine. Book them for your next event and you won't be sorry, I know I wasn't.
We loved having Chicago Robbery at our reunion. They played great music, sounded amazing and were super easy to work with!! Highly recommend them!!!
Response from j.ferg music:
Thank you!
Chicago Robbery was amazing!! We had them play at a small event at a house and everyone loved their music. Highly recommend them!
These guys were so wonderful, perfect for our rooftop event. Everyone was asking who they were, where I found them, and just blown away by their talent! So awesome, will definitely be first on my list for our next events!
This is long overdue but I need to give Justin & Jay a review for an outstanding performance at the Bristol Yacht Club in August 2013! They were fantastic! I just loved their sound when I found them on GigSalad and I knew they would be a great addition to our summer event. They have a wonderful ability to read the crowd and took requests throughout the night. True professionals and great communication prior to event! I'm hoping I have the opportunity to use them again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone looking for this style of music. A home run!
We hired The Chicago Robbery to play this past weekend at our home for a Christmas Party. Everyone in attendance thought they were excellent! The music was fantastic and their song books were so helpful in allowing people to put in song requests. This band is a true crowd pleaser. We will definately reccomend them to friends and family, and hope to hire them again in the future!

My daughter's 40th birthday pool party celebration was a big success, and Chicago Robbery helped make that happen. They were a hit with every generation in attendance, and I'm talking pre-teen through octogenarian! They gave us more than we asked for, and even entertained us during their break by bringing along recorded versions of requested tunes that are not part of their repertoire. They're personable, friendly and easy to talk to, and they'll do all they can to accommodate your requests. I couldn't be more satisfied. Book them!
We hired "The Chicago Robbery" for a private outdoor party last weekend and we couldn't be happier that we did. They came to meet up prior to the party so we could go over details. They showed up on time for the party, and even agreed to stay a little later because a lot of our friends showed up later than the party start time of 2:00.
I made up a set list for them from their very vast list of songs to choose from, which was great, and enabled us to choose the songs we thought our guests would like to hear.
Justin and Jay are great guys, very professional, and talented musicians. I highly recommend them to anyone out there looking for live music for an event.
Thanks, guys.
We were searching for a live group to play at an annual military family function/fundraiser. I was referred to Justin & Jay and after talking with
them by phone, they graciously answered all of my questions about what we were looking for. Feeling it was a good match, we booked them for the event. Long story short, we could not have been more happy with them. They showed up early, coordinated with us on a great setup location, and really entertained everyone more than was expected. These guys really care about doing things right. Everyone enjoyed these guys so much that we have booked them for a return engagement later this summer. Thank you!
I booked The Chicago Robbery for a New Year's Eve party for a group of 75 people who had rented our facilities for the night. The planning process with The Chicago Robbery was such a breeze and they were a pleasure to work with. For a reasonable price, they came to us all the way from Providence, performed for three hours and did a fantastic job. Most importantly, my clients were extremely pleased. I would definitely recommend and plan on re-booking in the future!
These fellows know how to keep the party going, providing excellent acoustic entertainment for all ages. Professional and talented.
Jay runs my open mic night and Justin is his trusty side kick. So glad they decided to form a band with a diverse song book such as songs by Creedence to Katy Perry(Justin-Firework) which I LOVE. They are a TON of fun. Book them!

Our performances can range from subdued, family friendly background music to raucus, crowd moving pub rock. We do readily tailor our sets to suit the venue and event. Crowd interaction and singalongs are encouraged where appropriate (just try playing The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" without crowd participation!).
