“I will never, ever let this happen to me again.”

In 2011, I was working for the Mayor of the City of Orange and was the only Latino on his staff. When he couldn’t attend a Hispanic Association Gala, he asked me to speak on his behalf. I was honored. I thought, “These are my people. I speak Spanish. I’ve got this.”

I arrived in a sharp black tuxedo, confident and ready. The emcee introduced me as “a rising Latino star in the State of New Jersey” and hyped me up as if I were delivering the next great keynote.

But what followed… was a disaster.

The speech was flat, forgettable, and disconnected. So much so that the President of the Association couldn’t even look me in the eye afterward.

Driving home that night, I had one of the most defining moments of my life. I said to myself:
“I will never, ever let this happen to me again.”

That experience taught me two things: how crushing it feels to fall flat in front of an audience, and how determined I was to never let that happen again.
That failure ignited a fire, to master the art of public speaking!
Since then, I’ve spent years upon years learning, studying, and practicing!
I've invested thousands upon thousands of dollars into trainings courses, storytelling, and Coaching!
Until I have finally cracked the code!
Fast Forward to Today
I launched Rivera Speaking Academy because no one should have to go through what I did —and I want to help people speak with confidence, clarity, and purpose.

Now, I coach CEOs, business owners, and everyday professionals to:

✅ Present with confidence and clarity
✅ Connect deeply with audiences and customers
✅ Speak with authority in-person and virtually
