What to expect

I enjoy playing in the tradition of small "Irish Pub" style venues and play a variety of Irish folk songs, sea shanties, (link hidden)tricks Day favorites, as well as instrumentals on Penny Whistle or Uilleann Pipes. I enjoy telling Irish history, stories, and jokes and encourage audience participation in singing. I also sing a few songs in Gaelic. Lastly I have also performed at weddings, wakes, and funerals to provide that special song or tune during the ceremony.

About

I am Michael Dunlavey- Mícheál Duínnshléibhe in Gaelic... I grew up in western Pennsylvania in a large Irish family that descends from northern Donegal. I grew up listening to the Clancy Brothers Dubliners, and Chieftains and started playing the guitar in my late twenties. In addition to the guitar, I play the Penny Whistle, Six string Banjo, Bodhrán (Irish drum) and recently the Uilleann Pipes (Irish elbow pipes). From 2010 to 2021 I was the founder and lead guitarist/vocalist for The Celtic Hooligans traditional Irish band in Erie, Pa before making the jump to sunny Tucson! I love playing and singing Irish folksongs, pub songs, sea shanties and session tunes.
