December 25, 2023Spoken word poetry is a dying Art. Understandable so. A lot goes into bringing a piece to life. It not only takes a self-aware person to describe in poetry and prose their feelings, experiences, and surroundings...it also calls for one who can perform the truths in an honest and compelling way. I.T. is one of those last true poets. He writes life and performs in a way that you can't help but be drawn in. I've worked with him as a Teen Minister and currently as a Preaching Minister. In both capacities, we've brought him in to minister to all crowd sizes: a room full of 30 teens...an auditorium full of 900 people. It matters not. The same outcome surfaces every time: people get inspired as they hear and experience life in a way only spoken word poets can facilitate. Spoken word poetry is alive and well in his hands and heart.
