What to expect
Scope of Work:
The workshop message is supplemented by a book of the same title and a shirt bearing the #GeniusIsCommon movement started by Bruce George and licensed to the speaker for sale and giveaways. The specifics of the workshop include:
- character development of students to maximize the impact they’ll have in their community
- direct interaction and involvement with students which allows the conversation to develop organically via prompts and questions
- personal testimonies of speaker’s development; not through success models that cannot be related to but rather, through missteps in discovering his personal genius through a more relatable FAIL principle: First Attempt In Learning
Objectives:
- to isolate the contributing factors of why most people don’t associate themselves with the word GENIUS
• MIND MAP QUESTION: Who or what do you consider to be GENIUS?
- to redefine GENIUS having various types outside of academics based on the equation GENIUS = PASSION + TALENT + PURPOSE
- to redefine PASSION as a focus on what it is an individual has been traumatized by stemming from a brokenness in the world they are meant to fix as opposed to it being someone else’s problem to address
• MIND MAP QUESTION: What is PASSION?
• QUESTION: What do you hate?
- to redefine TALENT as a tool to be utilized to address one’s PASSION
- to identify one’s PURPOSE in life as a function of one’s TALENT and PASSION – applying one’s TALENT as a means to fix the traumatic, broken thing(s) determined from one’s PASSION
- to develop genius potential into genius leadership
Method of Delivery:
The speaker can execute the workshop in the following formats for either an in-school or after-school program:
• (1) 60-minute, interactive workshop (TIER I)
• (1) series consisting of (4) 45-minute workshops revolving around GENIUS, PASSION, TALENT, PURPOSE and LEADERSHIP (TIER II)
• Book club (where books are read beforehand leading into workshop or series) (TIER II)
• One-on-one individual brainstorming sessions (TIER III)
Measure of Success
A pre- and post- survey is to be administered before and after the workshop to gauge the level of increased comprehension of the workshop’s main subject matter: GENIUS. The expected result is that the audience will gain more understanding and acceptance regarding genius being more than an academic measurement that involves each individual’s unique imprint of PASSION, PURPOSE and TALENT. From a poll of over 6000 participants, the average increase percentage of people identifying as GENIUS after the presentation is 400%.
About
Reggie Kee (d.b.a. Reggie Legend) has had his work featured on several online websites and forums for the latter part of two decades.
Seeking to increase his platform as a motivational speaker and leadership workshop facilitator, Reggie began writing social commentary known as poetitorials: a combination of poems and editorials. These writings have gone on to spark dialogue in forums ranging from sites such as (link hidden) to collegiate student newspapers and composition courses at Columbia College Chicago.
He is the author of several self-published books: Steel Waters VOLUME I: DUPLicate AuthentICITY, and Defacing the Music: What Slips into the Grooves Once God Gets Removed, and the box set: On My Post: Recollections of a Social Media Maverick (VOLUMES I-III).
As a youth advocate and motivational speaker, Reggie tours school districts motivating a variety of students with material geared towards equipping and empowering youth to recognize and self-advocate for their non-academic genius rooted in overcoming painful trauma which creates both empathy and passion for others which shared experiences. Reggie's newest book, Common Genius, Uncommon Destiny is the basis of his latest workshop which relates such trauma-informed genius to the following equation:
GENIUS = PASSION + TALENT + PURPOSETM
For young men who find it difficult to gain traction in secondary school, Reggie created the Kings’ Speech program to instill purpose and a sense of ownership in the one resource that makes us all rich: words. With the motto “Crowning Achievement One KING at a Time,” the students learn that they can influence their environment and determine how well they rule as kings by how well they spend their words.
Reggie married his wife, Quiana Kee, in 2004 and is the father of two children who are also self-published authors, as well: Josiah Kee and Paige Turner. He and his wife were featured columnists for The Chicago Defender and are co-founders of Ink Well Spoken and Manu Forti Ministries (pronounced man-you fort-ā); which serve as the marketplace and faith-based initiatives for motivational speaking, respectively.
To house their family’s growing catalog of books as well as service the needs of other would-be authors in the community, Reggie has also birthed a self-publishing company known as Water2WinePress Publishing House.
Reggie graduated from the University of Delaware in 2000 where he earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering. He went on to earn an MBA with a concentration in Leadership Management in 2006 from Argosy University ISP.
