Additional booking notes
To ensure a safe, captivating, and seamless performance, please review the following requirements for my fire dancing services. My priority is always the safety of guests, venue staff, and myself, while delivering an unforgettable experience.
I. Safety & Performance Space Requirements (Crucial!)
As a fire performer, safety is paramount. My performances adhere to the highest safety standards and local fire regulations.
Minimum Performance Area (Clearance Zone):
Outdoor: A flat, non-combustible surface (concrete, asphalt, well-maintained grass/dirt) of at least 20 feet x 20 feet (6m x 6m). This allows for ample clearance from the audience, structures, and any flammable materials.
Indoor: Indoor fire performances require special consideration and prior approval from local fire marshals. A minimum clearance of 25 feet x 25 feet (7.5m x 7.5m) is typically required, with a ceiling height of at least 15-20 feet (4.5m - 6m), and excellent ventilation. Hardwood or tile floors are preferred over carpet. (Note: Specify if you only perform outdoors or if indoor is an option with strict conditions). this is to your discretion.
Audience Buffer: A clear, unobstructed safety perimeter of at least 10-15 feet (3m - 4.5m) must be maintained between the performance area and the audience. This should be clearly marked and managed (e.g., by a venue security or designated staff).
Fueling Station & Spin-off Zone: A designated, secure, and well-ventilated area (ideally outdoors and away from guests) is required for fueling props. This area should be at least 15 feet (4.5m) away from the performance zone and any ignition sources.
Surface Condition: The performance surface must be dry, stable, and free of debris, loose gravel, or slippery substances.
Weather Conditions (Outdoor): Performances cannot take place during heavy rain, high winds (sustained winds over 15 mph), or lightning. A backup indoor space or rescheduling option should be considered.
Emergency Access: Clear pathways for emergency personnel and vehicles (if applicable to the venue's location) must be maintained.
Local Permits/Regulations: The venue is responsible for obtaining any necessary local fire permits or special event permits required for a fire performance. I am happy to provide my insurance documentation and safety protocols to assist with this process.
Fire Safety Personnel: I always perform with a dedicated, trained Fire Safety Assistant/Spotter who is responsible for monitoring the environment, audience, and performer safety. This individual will be equipped with appropriate extinguishing agents (e.g., fire blanket, wet towels, fire extinguisher).
II. Lighting Requirements
after dark preferred.
Ambient Lighting: A moderately dim or dark environment is ideal to maximize the visual effect of the flames.
Optional - Uplighting/Wash Lights: Warm-toned (reds, oranges, yellows, deep blues) ambient uplighting or wash lights can create a stunning backdrop and highlight the movement of the fire and the performer. Avoid direct, harsh white spotlights on the flames, as this can wash out their brilliance.
Spotlighting (Optional, if used carefully): If a spotlight is desired for a specific effect, it should be positioned carefully to highlight the performer without directly overwhelming the flame's glow. Discuss this in advance.
No Flammable Lighting Elements: Ensure no paper lanterns, fabric drapes, or other flammable decorative lighting elements are within the performance clearance zone.
III. Staging Requirements
While not always necessary, an elevated stage can enhance visibility for larger audiences. If using an elevated stage, ensure it is sturdy, non-combustible, and has adequate space as per the "Performance Area" requirements above.
Cleanliness: The performance area must be clear of all obstructions, wires, cables, or props not part of the performance.
IV. Sound Requirements
Dedicated Sound System: A functional sound system capable of playing music is essential. I can provide my own music via a standard audio cable (3.5mm jack) or Bluetooth connection, or integrate with your DJ/sound engineer.
Volume Control: make sure speakers if on stage with performer are facing out.
V. Additional Information
Setup & Teardown Time: Please allow approximately [10-15 minutes] for setup and [15-30 minutes] for teardown.
Dressing Room/Secure Area: A clean, private, and secure space for costume changes, prop preparation, and storage is greatly appreciated. This area should ideally be near the performance space but safely away from guests.
Water Access: Access to a water source (e.g., hose, sink) nearby for safety and clean-up is helpful.
I am fully insured and dedicated to working closely with you and your team to ensure a spectacular and safe event. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss any of these requirements further or to schedule a site visit.
Sincerely,
Ignis Kai
