About

Dee Hanzy is a motivational speaker, executive leader, published author, and recovery advocate who has turned lived experience into lasting impact. With more than two decades of sobriety, Dee speaks from a place of credibility, resilience, and hard-won wisdom—connecting deeply with audiences who value authenticity over hype.

Dee currently serves as the Executive Director of a behavioral health treatment center in Las Vegas, where she leads program development, compliance, culture, and operational strategy. Her career in the field began over 20 years ago on the graveyard shift as a behavioral health technician at the very facility she once graduated from—giving her a rare, full-circle perspective on recovery, leadership, and growth.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and an MBA, blending clinical insight with executive-level leadership. Dee is also a published author whose work explores recovery, self-accountability, emotional honesty, and transformation. Her books include Chapter 52: Are We There Yet, The One Millionth Try, and The Things We Don’t Say—each reflecting her belief that growth comes from confronting truth, not avoiding it.

As a speaker, Dee delivers powerful, relatable talks on resilience, leadership, recovery, women’s empowerment, and turning adversity into direction. Her style is direct, compassionate, and energizing—rooted in real life, not theory. Audiences walk away feeling seen, challenged, and equipped with perspective they can apply immediately.

Dee is especially known for her ability to connect across audiences—from professionals and executives to community members and individuals in recovery—making complex topics accessible without watering them down. Her message is simple but uncompromising: ownership changes everything, and growth is always available to those willing to do the work.

Whether speaking to a conference, corporate team, treatment professionals, or community group, Dee brings presence, purpose, and a message that lingers long after the applause ends.

Influences and inspiration

My speaking style has been most influenced by Eric Thomas, Jim Rohn, and Les Brown—not just for what they say, but for how they say it.

I respect the way each of them presents with conviction, clarity, and authenticity, while still maintaining a style that is uniquely their own. Eric Thomas brings urgency and fire, Jim Rohn delivers timeless principles with simplicity and wisdom, and Les Brown connects deeply through story, heart, and presence. Together, they represent a balance of motivation, discipline, and purpose that resonates with me.

Their influence reinforces my belief that effective speaking is not about performance, theatrics, or perfection—it’s about truth, connection, and delivering a message that moves people to take responsibility for their lives and actions.

While my message and voice are my own, these influences have shaped my commitment to speaking with intention, passion, and substance—meeting audiences where they are and challenging them to rise higher than where they’ve been.
