Hudson The Magician

Typically performing in a suit during a cocktail hour, Hudson will move from small group to small group entertaining with close-up magic. Anywhere from five to 15 minutes with a group is usually enough to get everyone laughing and having a good time. Then off to the next group. Wallflowers are drawn into the fun and no one is left out. The goal is to ensure the party is off to a good start and the participates get to know each other in a positive environment.

All of Hudson's entertainment is family friendly. You will never have to worry about inappropriate material or dress when you hire Hudson, and no task is too demeaning. Hudson is there to make you -- the party organizer -- look good. Although the primary job is entertainment, using magic, if someone needs help getting to their seat or the boss needs a drink, Hudson is there to make you successful.

Hudson was first exposed to magic in high school. A copy of Blackstone's Modern Card Tricks and Secrets from the library opened the door to a world of wonder and fun. It was several years before Blackstone's Secrets gave way to a wider range of magical resources, and today an autographed copy of Secrets is proudly on display in Hudson's home.

A dozen years in the military was ample time to perfect card and coin tricks - the staple of every amateur magician. Then it was back to school and a career in business. Twenty years in corporate life, rising to senior executive positions, tempered Hudson's magic. The card trick a twenty-something enjoys in a bar will not evoke the same response at a wedding or a corporate cocktail party. A polished and professional approach to magic was developed during these years. Hudson performs as easily in a suit and tie as in khakis - always dressing appropriately for the occasion and selecting tricks that will keep the party going in a positive direction.

The most formative event in Hudson's magic career was a chance meeting in 2008 with Mike Walton, Founder and Executive Director of Open Heart Magic. Open Heart Magic is a Chicago-based nonprofit that empowers sick children in hospitals through the power of bedside magic. Today, Open Heart Magic sees over 7,500 children every year - entertaining them at their bedside, teaching them how to perform magic, and providing them with the supplies to do the tricks they learned. In 2010 Hudson joined the Board of Open Heart Magic and made the decision to establish himself as a full-time professional magician. In addition to philanthropic work with Open Heart Magic, Hudson is an active member of the primary professional magical societies in North America: The International Brotherhood of Magicians and The Society of American Magicians.

Serving Minneapolis, The Twin Cities, and the Upper Midwest, Hudson can be found at weddings bringing the bride and groom families together and at corporate events facilitating conversations between employees that only see each other once a year. His focus is always on making sure the party goers are having a good time and great magic is the tool he uses.

For strolling magic, everything Hudson needs is on his person. For stage shows, requirements are determined on a case-by-case basis.
