How will you celebrate the New Year?
The first step to putting together this party is coming up with a theme. New Year’s Eve is essentially its own theme, so you can focus on that if you choose. Use traditional New Year’s
decorations in colors such as black and silver with party favors that center on the year that’s about to begin. If you want to add more to the theme, there are many options, so get creative. You could have a party that focuses on New Year’s resolutions, a costume party or even a casino night!
Perhaps you are not planning a party for you and your friends, but instead for your kids and their friends. Or maybe you’ll have the two parties mixed. Either way, the kids will need their own entertainment
to keep them busy (and awake!) until midnight! There a lot of television programs on in New Year’s Eve, so you could organize a dance party around one of those. Or you can set up a craft table and have the kids make noisemakers and party hats!
Rock the night away with great entertainment!
The key to any good party is good entertainment. If you have the budget for it, hiring a live band or DJ would be an excellent option for your celebration. Depending on the venue for your party, you may want to bring in a show to pass the time before midnight. You could hire a comedian, magician
or hypnotist. Or you can awe your crowd with acrobats or fire performers!
Fun idea: If you are planning a big budget party, perhaps a corporate event or block party...you could make a mock celebration similar to what you see on the major television networks. Have your own "Dick Clark’s New Year Rockin’ Eve"! You can hire tribute bands and impersonators that are similar to the bands and celebrities that you see on such televised events! The celebrity impersonators can mingle with your guests and take pictures! It will be a guaranteed hit!
Working out the rest of the details
After you’ve got your theme, decorations and entertainment all worked out, all that’s left is to fill in the pieces. If your party is going to be big enough to require more chairs and tables than what you already have, you may want to consider finding a rental company to provide such things for you. You also must decide if you want to handle the food or snacks on your own, or if you’d like to hire a caterer. New Year’s parties do not typically start too early, so you probably don’t need to worry about providing a meal or buffet, but you should offer hors d’oeuvres and definitely beverages! If your party is comprised of adults, you’ll probably want to hire a bartender to serve cocktails, wine or champagne. Or to spice things up a little, hire a flair bartender! Your guests can be entertained by juggling, flipping and magic tricks while also enjoying professionally mixed drinks!
If all of this still sounds like a lot to take on, you could always hire a party planner to handle it for you! However, with the right resources you can do it yourself and have fun doing it!
