Henna Muse

Henna is a wonderful addition to the entertainment at your next event or party. We can accommodate small house parties, and large corporate events, and everything in between. We will help you plan for how much time it will take for us to serve your guests, and if additional artists may be beneficial to you. We will bring designs that are suited to the amount of time we will have with each guest so no one is left out or gets less attention.

We will handle everything so you don't have to. We will bring our own freshly made, natural henna, appropriate designs choices, table covers, and a small booklet for each guest with a little information on the history of henna and after care instructions. For an additional fee we can even bring our own tables, chairs, shade tent, and lighting. We can even bring a custom design sheet to suite your theme!

Our henna is always 100% natural and without added chemicals or contaminates. Our recipe contains only ground henna leaves, lemon juice, and cajeput (a close relative of eucalyptus oil) and sugar. We can substitute lemon juice for water and/or cajeput essential oil for lavender upon request.

All or our artists are very skilled in their art as well as knowledgeable about the different cultures from which it originates. Your guests will be very pleased with the experience and continue to enjoy the entertainment you chose for them long after they leave.

FAQ
How long does henna last? -About two weeks.

How long does it take to dry? -About 15-30 minutes.

How long before I take the paste off? Try to wait at least four hours.

What color will it be? -At first it is pale orange and darkens over the course of two days. Then it will be brown with reddish tones. Its darker on arms and legs than the torso.

Can people with dark skin get good results? -YES Henna adds to the pigment in your skin. The darker it is, the darker the henna design.

Can we have henna at our pool party? -Yes BUT henna isn't particularly pool friendly. We suggest glitter tattoos or foil tattoos for pool parties. The rates are the same. Just ask!

Does it hurt? Are there needles? -absolutely not!

Is henna appropriate for my child? - Because of concerns about yet unknown allergies to citrus we like to avoid hennaing children under 4. Children under 7 may struggle with being still while henna is applied and drying, but we're glad to try with a parent's permission.

Does my teenager need parental permission? -No. Henna is temporary and does not pierce the skin. There is no law demanding parental consent, and we don't feel its necessary. However as a rule, we do not apply designs to young people that might be considered inappropriate or that are in provocative locations.

With 15 years experience in henna body art, I can provide everything from full traditional indian bridal, to sweet and simple designs. Even before I started to develop my skills in henna, I studied Fine Arts at Bowling Green State University and have worked in many different mediums. Even though I've made henna the focus of my artistry I still pursue the others as a hobby. I feel that having a background in a variety of mediums helps me to create unique henna designs with many different influences.

While the art is my first love, I also invest a great deal of time into education about my art and its culture, and the community of henna artists. I teach at schools, libraries, and clubs about the history, culture and art of henna. I am the current Board Chair of the International Certification of Natural Henna Artists, which serves to educate henna artists and consumers about the benefits of using all natural henna, and certifies artists who do so. I have taught at national conferences for professional henna artists including HennaCon, The Windy City Mehndi Meet, and The Henna Gathering, And the Sin City Henna Conference.

We do prefer to work at a table whenever possible. Adequate lighting is necessary. We can bring these at an additional feel if you are unable to provide them.
